  • What fuel

Hey guys I bought my ds3 THP (155) last week and just wondering what fuel people use. For example is Tesco momentum okay to use or is it only premium fuel that should be used ? Cheers

Premium fuel is definitely recommended. I only use Shell V-Power but I've heard others use Tesco Momentum and had no issues.

I use BP Ultimate for my e-HDi every other tank full. Fill it with premium fuel, if you can afford to, as it will reap its benefits over time. Don't fill it with supermarket sludge on every fill up and your DS3 will thank you for it in the long run.

Welcome to the Club- I believe both V-Power and Momentum is 99 RON so take your pick
How many miles on the THP?

Yep, premium fuel is recommended in the THPs. I saw Jamie from SP Tuning recommends either V-Power or Tesco Momentum a while back, so I use either of them in my Performance, depending on which petrol station I'm closest to when I need to fill up!

Either premium fuel is OK. I use these fuels in the thp 155 primarily for the cleaning agents they contain to keep the complex fuel system and injectors clean. I also use them in my diesel Land Rover for the extra lubricants they contain to provide the best lubrication for the HPFP because the lubricant for the pump is contained in the fuel. I dont know if you will get better performance in a standard thp from these fuels. The RON rating reflects the fuels ability to resist preignition and not the energy content of the fuel, so in the ‘old’ days the higher compression ratio you had the higher RON fuel you needed (remember having to have my Broadspeed escort’s engine rebuilt to lower the compression ratio when 5* disappeared in the 70’s). Unless the thp has software installed that alters the ignition and valve timing, turbo boost and fuel injector spread/loadip to the point of preignition then adjusts one of the aforementioned ‘back a bit’ i cant see how performance will be improved. I would really like to know if these premium fuels can improve performance an£ if so how this is achieved by th3 car.
