Mot check for foreigners?

Hi there, I just have relocated from Ukraine and really want to buy a car in the UK. Please tell me more about mot check, what's the purpose and why do I need as a foreigner (if I need it indeed). Cheers!

Yes a MOT test every year for cars over 3 years old and under 40 years old for English cars , I’m not sure if you have a foreign car in uk if rules are different someone else will be able to help on that hopefully. Tests cost about £40 and if it fails you cannot legally drive it and need to fix the bits it failed on.
