exactly... interest free loan... vs APR

also most likely to get a better deal since they have all cash.

Question, I do not know your system, would the student loan be thru a private institution or the Government? If private fine more power to him. If from the Government then he is misusing your Tax money. How does it feel to help pay for his car.

I bought a telly with mine. And to be honest, that's still going strong whereas my qualifications have not helped me in the slightest.

I have to admit my £1000 deposit came from there - I live at home with the parents, attend university full time and work 25 hours a week to cover my car costs!

At the end of the day we end up paying it back (the loan part, I also get a grant) so it's a win win for me - it's not like I haven't paid my way anyhow, I've worked since I was 15 and paid extortionate rates of tax before I returned to education last year. In the last 6 months I paid over £1000p/m in tax and NI whilst working 14 hour shifts, 5 days a week for 6 months straight...so a few grand in educational grants is fair game if you ask me; especially when I have to drive past a Job Centre every day, which has scrotes queuing outside with a 3 litre of cider in one hand, and a spliff in the other to collect their share of my wages.

Anyway, I know my next one will be going on my 2k ICE install

If someone's giving you money for nothing and you don't have to pay much back until your proper earning then its no worries. I couldn't work during uni so had to use it to buy food but if I had a job I could see it worthwhile.
