  • how did you run yours in?

    THP 155

Did 600 miles up to 3000 rpm...then 600 miles up to 4000 rpm...now letting her go to 5000 rpm on occassions.
    Sweet as a nut.
What about super unleaded and performance air filter?
Getting 47 mpg at the moment.

I didn't do anything special with my vti, and I think the general suggestion is to just drive and have fun

Others with the thp might have some answers but I don't think the engines need running in.

No need to run it in, just drive and enjoy.

No need to 'run' in in like you used to do with cars. I just took it easy for 5 or 600 miles and that was for the sake of the turbo more than anything else and now I let rip. With me though I'm a bit anal about always letting the engine warm up properly before letting rip. Until the temp is midline I keep all revs below 2000, once it hits midline then it's fun time.

As for fuel and a filter- I put in a panel filter on mine- seemed to drive smoother, then changed to Ron99 prior to getting it mapped. There was some minor gains (mainly in torque) when they tested baselines on the dyno but to me it just seemed to drive smoother (this may have just been in my head)

Quite agree-put a sports filter in mine recently- and it just seems to run smoother
Where you get your RON 99 Nerdy?
Cant seem to track it down at TESCO. Using ULTIMATE at the mo

Took it easy for awhile, but the more important thing as chiefnerd said is always let the engine get up to temp before giving it some, I also let the car idle a bit before I turn the engine off, especially after any sort of spirited driving

You can use the shell one- vPower or the Tesco's one. Search for them online both sites have a map you can stick your postcode in for the nearest station.

Yep- what I do is once parked up I sit and check any emails that came in while I was driving, keeping the engine on. Same down the beach, I park up, and leave the engine running while I go and get my coffee, when I get back in I turn the engine off. Sad but true lol

Running in? Well- if you have the bottle, after first 2-300 miles- once its warmed up, put yer foot down and whizz it around
No namby, pamby 10 miles here and there. Give it a good bit of welly regular. Not a thrashing mind. Around 5-5500rpm my opinion
I actually worry if I havent put my foot down for a good 15 minutes less than every other day up to 6500rpm
                      Cleans the engine out
                      All an individual decision obviously

I drive it from cold (gently). Interestingly, the water temp gauge is very quick at getting to temp. The same motor in the 207 GTi also has an oil gauge and this takes much longer to warm up - 10-15 minutes longer at least.

When I finish driving I turn it off. It has an electric cooling pump which circulates fluid through the turbo cooling system when the engine is switched off, obviating the need to let it cool down before turning it off.
                        Regards,

                        Simon
