  • Moral Dilemma

I have been asked at work whether or not to grit the car parks this winter.

If we grit and someone falls we are liable.
If we don't grit we are not liable.

Would I sooner see 100 people fall and not be liable OR
Would I sooner see one person only fall but be liable.

It's a no-brainer for me so long as I can watch the 100 fall

Moral dilemma - should I spend public money or give people the personal freedom to fall flat on their arses?

Save money and watch them fall.

Why are you liable if you grit though? Surely that's doing what you can to prevent slipping?

Save money on grit and invest in cameras to stream footage to the web for all of us to enjoy.

If you grit people are entitled to presume it is safe but there might be ice underneath - hence you are considered to have done a bad job

                There's always one isn't there!!!

By the way we are talking about Council car parks and ratepayers money.

Wouldn't it be easier to just get some simple signs made up to advise people that they're walking on ice?
