Jimbob did you eve come accross one of the Frantic choppers (moped) around the times of the FS1E LOL
I tried riding one - wierd, it revved beyond anything I had tried before and the power came on sharply above 6 million revs. Threw it down the road which did not please its owner! Think it was non-standard to say the least.
VW Beetle (a year younger than me)
Triumph toledo
Mini 1000
Fiat 126 (OK, that was my girlfriends car, but I drove it while she was learning to drive)
Metro 1.3 H something
Then I got married, and fed up with spending my weekends under crappy old cars, so started buying new with...
Citroen AX 1.0 Special editiion (white) (we had one for a week while on honeymoon, and bought one a couple of months later).
Citroen AX 1.1 Salsa (blue) (got this a year later, as some arse put a scratch all the way down the side of the other one. Couldn't afford to repair, so cheaper to swap for a new one).
Citroen ZX turbo diesel - Fantastic car.
Then the kids started appearing...
Toyota Picnic
Ford Galaxy - also had a Gilera Runner scooter for commuting for a few years
and the current Mazda 5.
New baby - DS3 White HDI.
My car history looks a bit pathetc compared to floydy's
Ford Escort 1.8 LX
VW Golf GTI 1.8 T mk4
Citroen DS3 1.6 THP
The clue is in the Car's most of them are regarded as classics now makes one feel a bit elderly but the Marcos and the Healey 3000 were brilliant to be seen in brutes to drive

I still remember the piece in Car Magazine about it in the 1970s - they described it as being "like a demented piece of Red Leicester".
What was it to like drive? Please tell me it was as awful as all the other Reliant 3-wheelers - got to get it out of my system!
(To the younger generation on here, I'll lay money that in 20+ years time, you'll find your thoughts turning to those cars that captured your imagination in your youth, and you'll spend your evenings looking though the 2030 equivalent of Autotrader to see if you can pick one up cheap as a weekend restoration project. My current fixation is a Matra Bagheera, which I lusted after in the late 1970s. There's room for one in the shed - just need to get it past swmbo...)
Some real corkers in there. my friend! Good to see some serious rear-engined history (beetle, imp sport, skoda 120). I had a Sunbeam Stiletto - terrific fun in the dry, terrifying in the wet!
How's the Smart Roadster been? I nearly bought one 5/6 years ago but got put off by the stories about water leaks and failing auto-boxes. If only they'd sold them with a manual box. Definitely a classic in the making, though.
never had a problem with leaks you just have to lube the seals, box's are manual but an electronic actuated clutch again never a problem, but we'll probbably sell it in spring as its not been used much since we got the DS3
Know the feeling. My Barchetta spent most of the summer in the shed while I blatted around in the DS3. It doesn't owe me anything, so I'll keep it dry-stored for the time being.
