Well i do photography at cycle races and sell images to the races etc, ticks over and don't think I'll ever be able to give work though.

Tonight was tipped of to a store using one of my images he bought for personal use not commercial in an advert for an event. To make matters worse then has the name of another cycling photographer under it with other sponsors and no mention of me. I wouldn't mind but I gave him a massive discount the first time round to try and build relationships.

I made contact and he is all apologetic and such but don't know what to do because I know if I ask for the commercial rate he will just remove it.

Perhaps you could get in touch again, explain you're disappointment that he used your photo in a commercial way as you had offered him a generous discount to build up a mutually beneficial relationship. State that you think your work speaks for itself and that he obviously agrees as he used your pic in his advert and suggest that you two discuss terms for working together ?

Hopefully the friendly/firm approach will help him realise your work is not to be used professionally unless it's bought on those terms but that you're still happy to work with him ?

We have spoke, he called me to discuss. He is a nice guy and everything but just took liberty. His mate gives him photos to use as he wants, guess he thought he could do same with mine.

Said it was like me advertising something using one of his jerseys then putting a logo for another company selling jerseys underneath it. Think thats what annoys me the most.

Think will just say to him to pay me a fair price or use another image.

Worst of it is if he'd asked I'd have just said he could use it but just put my logo and web address on it somewhere.
