Thinking of getting a new computer and came across the Mac mini. Anyone had experience of it?

Would mostly be for photo editing

Yeah not sure I can stretch that far to get a MacBook. The more I look into it the more I think I will be going with a laptop or desktop Windows machine

Second hand / refurbished Macbooks are a much better option if you're looking to keep your costs down !

Is it a laptop you need or a desktop?

As mentioned on shoutbox, drop me a PM if you're building a desktop and I'll put something together for you.

The Mac Mini's are due a refresh - check here for details on the whole Apple range.

In terms of experience of the Mac Mini - I use the server based models for a number of customers and can't say a bad word about them - they are fast, quiet and reliable.

It seems to me that any laptop would be good for working with photos. Well, at least among Macs, all options should be good. However, you need to consider how large the files you usually work with are and which software you use. Anyway, check different specs and reviews to form a complete opinion. By the way, does anyone play games on a Mac? I understand that a Mac isn’t the best gaming computer, but maybe it will be enough for me.
It’s the same as with your comment about photos. Games vary, so some will work well, and some your Mac won’t handle. In general, I believe a Mac isn’t a great option as gaming macbook in terms of power, but if you are choosing from just Macs, you should look at the 16-inch models, probably the Pro ones running on the latest processors.
