Its what many people get confused about when buying large screen TVs, the size of the screen should be proportional to how far you typically sit from it. A HD screen of 32" displays exactly the same amount of pixels as a 60" HD screen (2,073,600), from say 3 feet away a 32" screen will have a sharper picture due to the density of the pixels, those 2 million pixels have more space to fill on a larger screen therefore are more spread out and when close up the picture looks lass sharp.

Secondly, for gaming, more pixels (higher resolutions) means more work for the graphics hardware, this is why the PS4 and XBO are typically running games at lower than HD resolutions to avoid significant slowdown (Frames Per Second).

The PS4 games now run at 1080p, which is higher than the XBone apparently..... The PS3 wasn't able to do this so I'm looking forward to the difference as games built solely for PS4 hit the shops

Both are capable of displaying 1920x 1080 (the poor mans full HD of 1920 x 1200) but due to the hardware restrictions (basically 18 month old APU in both machines) and early programming being less efficient, many games that use lots of textures are being dialled down in resolution so as to keep a decent FPS (ie a min of 30).

I think BF4 on the consoles has been running at 1600 x 1200.

They APU (CPU and Graphics combined on one chip) for both machines is the same (made by AMD) although the PS4 has a slight speed bump.

On a side note, FIFA was stripped back for the PS4 and XBO and has less features than the PS3 version, probably due to time constraints for the console launch.
