Remember peeps, whilst footage can be used as evidence to assist in proving innocence or guilt, it will not be taken as sole proof alone. Ensure any footage has time/date coding but ensure you take plenty of pics and witness details at the scene. I spent nearly an hour at the scene of my knock photographing and videoing pretty much everything. The other party didn't do a thing so if I suddenly said I had three other people in the car all of whom have injuries she would have no evidence to the contrary.

On a second note, there is a reason surveillance operators still use tape (in DV form), digital media is not always accepted if the incident is contested.

Looking at the Mi-witness camera; has anyone heard of or used this one?
          http://www.store.mi-witness.co.uk/mi...nd-camera.html
Similar to the blackvue dual channel camera but reviews suggest the blackvue's bit rate is too low. Not sure how the mi-witness compares.

Mines in and running- £46 from China
Does front and back, and thought back would be waste of time as it seems more of a rear passenger camera. And it is, but it will certainly show who's at fault if you get hit from behind, as it records the front view at the same time.
It has some nice touches- GPS to show the google map route of any journey, and speed, compass, all that jazz, but cant seem to get it to work after a week.

Had trouble with the software download and how it functions. Slow and ponderous, and just stops and starts when it wants.
Manual not easy to understand but just about OK.
Expect more problems with it, to come, but its OK for just recording and standard playback, but would probably spend more and get a UK sourced one next time.
Like the fact it just starts recording when you start the engine- might get a VCR of the mechs doing my car service LOL

Not sure how price matches up with similar spec ones.

Chris, go to the website and see if there is any updated firmware, my Mobius has been regularly updated and from when I first bought it, it has been improved dramatically via regular firmware updates (it now has motion detection for example).

The way these things normally work is you connect them to a PC via USB, boot up a downloaded prog (or use a web browser) and then adjust the settings via a GUI (graphic user interface). The prog should be able to detect if you are running the latest firmware.

^ ^ You dont do this one via USB- manual actually states that. Microchip into adapter straight into computer. Loaded its own X2 player- thats all i can gather from the manual
X2 player is rubbish- but good enough for standard playback (Press and watch)

Do you mean an SD card, if so does the adapter connect via USB.

Can you post a link to the website or give me a model number and make.

Yes- sorry- they call it the adaptercard....the SD card. You put the microcard in it, then in the relevant slot on the laptop
It fires up the X2 player after a while, then you can see the videos, to a fashion anyways

Had a moan up about the patchy playback performance- and they refrunded half my money, no less
So got a forward/ reverse looking camera, with playback (Although cant seem to fast forward thaty well, and GPS dont seem to work) for £22.50.
Am well happy with that. Now just get one for the wife's :-)

                                That's a nice discount!

I've just ordered a G1W from Amazon after reading/watching reviews from DashCamTalk and TechMoan. Cost me £33.48 for the camera and £14.82 for a 32GB microSDHC card with adapter.

Hopefully it will be pretty decent for the price, I'll be using it to record some footage on the 4 points trip. I'll let you know how I get on with it.
