"A check of your policy details against our system records has highlighted a
discrepancy in the details you gave us. The information differs to that
recorded on another quote or policy with us, or another company within the
    same group.

We have records of 2 differing occupations for you. We have amended the
policy to show the occupation which generates a higher premium, so that in th
event of an accident occurring, your policy insurance will remain valid.

As a result of this change, a balance of £193.83 is due, which will be applie
in 10 days time to the payment details we hold on your account."

I phoned up asking them why and they said that I had put student living away from home when I got the insurance. I told them to check there recordings because I got the insurance over the phone and told the guy I was a student living at home. They called back saying that they made an error and wont charge me an extra 193.85.

Even when I first got the insurance over the phone the guy said it would be 3000 but I told him that I got a quote for 1950 on their website and he changed the total to that.

    scam.

      I can quite believe it.

They do check the details you provide them over occupations as it gave me a fair bit of hassle on one of my claims. Occupation can save you a lot of money, I have a 2nd job which reduced my premiums by £100. =D

I've never not had one that matches their online price.

However, the idea of the online discount is that you do all the work and the computer does the rest, the insurance company don't have to pay an individual to speak to you on the phone then go through everything, which does actually take a fair bit of time.

Your job title can make a huge difference to your premium, and your chances of getting certain visa's.

Don't get me started with any form of insurance renewal. Changed our house and contents from The Nationwide to another company (cant remember who) and the woman on the line at Nationwide accused my wife of lying about the quote, the current Mrs SFG told her it didn't matter whether she believed her or not as she was cancelling anyway.
