So as some may know, my DS3 Racing dream ended up in tatters!! I still miss this car something shocking...
But once the DS3R storm in my life had calmed, I was left without a car. So the next morning I woke up and immediately opened Gumtree on my phone where to my delight I found a 2003 1.8 16v Vauxhall Astra which was pretty well kitted out for a reasonable £500! I phoned straight away, and a few hours later I had purchased that very car... well some reckon I may aswell have stolen it after only handing over £200!
The car took me right back to my roots of driving around in modified Vauxhalls! So in no time at all, a plan was thought out to make this £200 Astra something special! First job was to swap the awful Lexus lights for some SRi original tail lamps!
Next up was the exhaust which needed serious attention as the back box had disconnected itself from the rest of the exhaust!
Then came the craziest moment so far... I bought a 2000 Saab 93 Turbo for £300... but why you ask??
Well I did say I wanted to make the Astra that wee bit special... so I decided to treat it too (imho) one of the best 4 Cylinder engines available in a production car! The Saab B204,
The engine had 115,000 miles and was getting tired, so I rebuilt it and treated it to some fast bits!
Deka 630cc Fuel Injectors, 320LPH AEM Fuel Pump, 3 Bar Map Sensor, Bespoke Tubular Exhaust Manifold, Garrett GT2871R Turbo, Upgraded Saab ECU with Trionic 7 and Custom Remap... probably forgot loads, anyway here is a before and after!
So 4 months on, its back on its wheels and had its maiden voyage last weekend!
The experts reckon it should make in the region of 400bhp! I cant wait... I hope it scares the crap out of me! I will keep you's updated!
