  • Sad to say bye to the DS3 but I can’t say no to a 911

About a week or 2 after my last post about doing mods to my DS3 a Porsche 911 came in to be traded in at work and once I released I could afford it I just had to have it.
Its a 2006 Porsche Carrera 2 with 19 inch minilite style wheels which are the ones I wanted, factory short shifter, bi-tone leather (black on top half of dash, headliner and grey bottom half of dash, seats and carpets)
I thought I would’ve owned the DS3 for another couple of years at least but I can’t say no to a dream of owning a 911.
My DS3 is for sale at JC Halliday and Sons DS Store Eglinton with 11,200 miles if you are interested in it.

Check out the DS 3 PRESTIGE THP S/S I found on UsedCarsNI!

Not so sure I would want the maintenance costs though, but have fun

Shame you are getting rid of your DS3, but if you have a chance to own a 911 at a cost you can afford, you just have to go for it!! I know I could never afford to run one, or the cost of any maintenance or repairs.

Post some pics up in the "New Car that's not a DS3" thread, so we can all take a look and be jealous.

I’m not sure I’ll be able to afford to keep either, I’ve been getting 20+mpg bit of change from the 35mpg I was getting in the DS3. I’ll be doing the work myself and because it’s a Carrera not a Carrera S the parts aren’t that expensive for example a shock absorber is £250 but the S with adjustable dampers is over £400. I did a full service the oil and all the filters are easy to change, not so much the spark plugs. The rear tyre 305 tyres are expensive and a pain to fit and my dad says they last about 6,000 miles

I cant upload any photos from my phone but here is my instagram.

Whats the insurance like in comparison to the DS3?
Have some money coming my way in a couple years, and fancy an Audi R8, but worried bout all the maintenance and insurance/ taxk etc etc

Bloke down the road from me has a Lamborghini Gallardo, and he was telling me a problem in the suspension recently cost him £6k...!!!!
So its the maintenance that's the problem methinks

I’m insured under the fleet insurance at work so it’s not a problem for me but the tax is £555 which is just over 5 times that of my DS3 (£110)
I would definitely get a pre purchase inspection done at a dealer or a specialist before buying.
Put money aside for replacing the clutch, flywheel and any common problems that the car may have.
My 911 is 12 years old, doesn’t have Bluetooth, aux port or DAB so I expect it to wear thin and I’ll probably sell it before I have to tax it again.
I was looking at the Hyuandai i30 N but I’ll wait until for a used later model car.

we ought to have a supercar thread
old ones that people may actually buy

And post up common faults for each
