  • new boy to your club

    hi guys...

i am down sizeing from my volvo c70 2.5t, as my kids have both passed their driving tests, so no longer want to be seen with me!!!....

so, i am looking at the cabriolet with the 155 engine, new or slightly part worn..
my local dealer has informed me that a new engine is due out soon, think it was a 160 something..
so now i dont know what to do, hold on for the new model engine,or get the existing 155 engine..

    what do you guys think?
also is the 155 engine ok,
oh and i have to have petrol because i only do 2 mile round trips per day, but long motorway triops at weekends.

    thanks for having me.

I'd wait for the new engine. I have the 155, and I've had some problems a year after I bought it.
But there are also lot of 155's without any problems, so...

      Welcome to the club

I have the THP 155 and I love it.

Looks like Bigfeet has a bit of info on the THP 165 here:

The engine is to be replace with a new Euro 6 compliant THP 165 engine which is equipped with Stop & start technology. This engine is pegged as having a combined MPG of 50 and a CO2 figure of 129G/Km which makes it more efficient then the older engine it replaces.

No technical data as of yet but will put something up as and when I get it.

          Hi Pablo- welcome

Listen to the engine on start up, dont just listen for 10seconds, give it a full minute or more. Any clunk after a few seconds may be the air con clicking in. Listening for anything thats not smooth TBH. Grinding, clicking, tapping, ticking, clunking (Other than aircon). Should be smooth. If you can do this from cold, on a cold day. That should tell you things. If they say any noise is normal... be suspicious LOL

Ask if timing chain/ tensioner has been changed, and ask for any issues. Generally, the THP 155 is more issue free than the 150 with timing issues.

Personally, would wait for the new engine, but not imperative

Just bear in mind that if you wait for the THP165 you will have to pay approx £400 more.

                Regards Tbart.

                            I thought the rules were:

2nd RULE: You DO NOT talk about DS3 CLUB.
