  • New Ds3 owner from lincolnshire

    Hello all

Ive had my ds3 for a few weeks now and I originally wanted blue with black roof but settled for blue with white.
Now im wondering how much do you think it would cost to get the roof and wing mirrors sprayed black?

I would post a pick of my ds3 but for some reason it wont work??

    Welcome to the club

Not sure on respray costs but it will almost definitely be cheaper to get it wrapped, also it's reversible.

Yea I have thought about getting it wrapped, matt black or gloss? Do you reckon it would affect my insurance much? Being 19 they like to increase it as much as possible:mad:
Was also thinking about getting callipers painted same blue as the body work.

Will depend on your insurance company, some don't mind minor cosmetic mods, others charge a fortune or refuse to insure mods. It's worth calling them and telling them you're considering doing it and asking if it will effect your premiums.

Blue callipers look good, someone else on here has done it they looks great IMO.

As for matte or gloss roof, depends if you're going for a stock look or something different? Matte or satin black can look very nice if done well.

          Welcome!
You wouldn't have to tell the insurance about a wrap, as it's only temporary.

            Welcome!

Gloss black 3M vinyl is a very close match to a standard black roof,my roof is black and has been wrapped to protect the paint!

As Beefy said, I'd give the insurance Co a quick call just to double check that it doesn't affect either the cover or the premium Better to be safe than sorry

Just kidding, the many combinations are one of the best things about the DS3, Something for everyone

                    Although blue black is best!

Nothing at all is wrong with a white roof, it looks great, I just prefer black, oh and there's a big scratch on my roof so it gives me another reason to get it done :P

Got a rough price today of about £250, apparently a decent wrap would be more expensive at about £400. I'm liking the idea of a satin black roof. Just got to contact the insurance peeps

I don't really get why this should be of any interest to the insurer, it's only a minor cosmetic change which neither affects handling or performance. Then again, knowing insurance companies they'll try to scam as much money from you as possible.

Yup but sometimes they can be picky and if they think it increases the value of the car or looks better than its more likely to get stolen, scratched etc etc

That still seems a bit steep, only last year Reade Signs of Aldershot,a 3M approved sign writing and wrapping company, only wanted £ 140+ vat for the main part of my roof and £ 60+vat for the eyebrows on my headlights!

I have recently had my bonnet wrapped too for £120+vat.
