  • Playing the waiting game...

    Hi All

Ordered the new 'beast' week before last and now playing the waiting game...

Took a look at one in the show room and decided that i should have one as my new company car, only problem is I've never driven one so fingers crossed I like it..!!

Gone for the DSport 1.6 110 dirty diesel in sport red with the black roof, never seen the colour combo in the flesh either, so toes crossed that it looks as good in real life as it does on paper/interweby thing.

Right, so who's best for some chip tuning action....??

    Cheers
    John

    Welcome to the club.
The colour combo is better in the flesh, I know, it's my combo too.
Have fun with the car, it's a great drive!

Good question...had you opted for the HDi90 I would say Viezu or FlashRemapping as I know that they have done the 90 successfully, but I don't know if anyone has yet cracked the HDi110 (and has the graphs to prove it)

the email text below will put the graph into context.

                  john

Thank you for your enquiry regarding Tunit. I’ve had a hunt around our archives from the Dyno and managed to find a graph from a DS3 that we did not too long back which ill copy into this email. The Tunit V-CR is the one needed on your vehicle, This Tunit will increase the Brake Horse Power of your vehicle from standard of 110bhp to at least 130bhp and Torque from standard of 199lbs/ft to at least 229lbs/ft. We always quote the figure after as at least because the increase will always depend on the power of the engine as standard and even though manufacturers list figures for Brake Horse Power and Torque you will rarely find an engine that will make exactly what the manufacturer quotes, some will make more power as standard than the manufacturer quotes and some will make a little less so the 130bhp and 229lbs/ft is what you will make at least though this may be higher as I know from personal experience with my Focus ST and the Graph below will also show.

In the Graph Blue is Torque and Red is Brake Horsepower with the solid line showing before the Tunit was fitted and the Broken line being after the Tunit was fitted. The engine is supposed to be 110bhp and 199lbs.ft torque standard but here a standard one with a dirty air filter that made 114.5BHP and 207lbs.ft Torque before the Tunit was fitted so more than quoted by Citroen. The Dip in the Torque in the after line was down to the air filter, this customer came back a few days after the run with a new filter fitted and we re-tested the car, made the same power but the Torque curve was a lot smoother, I cannot for the life of me find the graph though? We quote 130BHP and 229lbs.ft Torque but this one made 147BHP and 235lbs.ft Torque so again over what we quote, this will be partly because the engine made more power than quoted as standard but this was a standard engine. I mentioned earlier about my Focus ST170, ford Quote these as being 173bhp but mine on 2 separate Dyno’s made 158bhp to show there can be 2 sides to the story but there was a known issue with Fords Quality checking on the headwork that went into the ST170 meaning that nearly if not all of them didn’t make the stated power.

The tunit V-CR suited to your vehicle is easily fitted and adjusted by yourself or it can be fitted for your convenience by any of our nationwide dealers. It is compact in size, unobtrusive and very simply adjusted as well as being interchangeable between many other vehicles. Its unique ability to be fully adjustable to the characteristics of each individual vehicle makes the Tunit V-CR stand out above alternative fixed map devices and chips.

As a result of tuning most people also tend to gain 7-10% better fuel economy. This can vary from vehicle to vehicle and depends on application, but is generally the case. We had a survey carried out on our customers and this showed that an average of 12% was what they were seeing as an increase in their economy.

Installation to your vehicle is by original manufacturers' plugs, which are on the side of your engine. Simply open the existing plugs and fit the Tunit in between. There is no need to dismantle or go inside the ECU. Adjustment, if required, is then carried out using a rotary switch giving nine different power settings.

In many cases the Tunit can be moved from one vehicle to another with only a simple reprogram and/or additional adapter. In some cases your Tunit may not transfer to your next vehicle and for this we offer a part exchange facility throughout our dealer network, which has now been extended to three years to all new tunits.

Our dealer network is able to offer many services and facilities from sales and installation to vehicle testing, adjustment and reprogramming. Customer service is always a priority with help and advice always at the end of a phone or in person.

A 'Try before you buy' option is available at each and every Tunit service and sales outlet giving an opportunity to sample the advantages of a Tunit before purchasing. When you have purchased your Tunit this will then be backed up by a comprehensive 3 year warranty giving peace of mind that we will be there for you not only now but in the future.

Please do not hesitate to contact myself or visit our website at http://www.tunit.com if you have any further queries. Details for your DS3 1.6 HDi can be found here: http://www.tunit.com/product/index.php

The Tunit for your vehicle is £489inc VAT and postage, for the increases in Power and Torque it gives, there is no other tuning method that would be more cost effective, With the fuel saving taken into account, in many cases the Tunit will pay for itself over the course of a year or 2.

If there is anything further you need from me Mr Manners please don’t hesitate to call me or email me back.

                  Kindest Regards,
