  • Which DS3

    Hello all,

I have just ordered a Style Plus, Red with black roof, 120 VTI. I was concerned about the bad reviews on the 5 speed gearbox but the testdrive seemed to go OK. Can anyone advise if they like/dislike this gearbox.

    Cheers

    Michael

Greetings - thanks for your replys. I have read numerous reviews from parkers, autoexpress and whatcar that point to a vague and notchy gear 5 speed gearbox and recommend going for the 6 speed (although pricier examples). All things considered, the overall quality is immense and more than matches the Mini, which I have owned two in the past!
Factory built this week - any ideas how long before delivery?

        Cheers

Parkers, Autoexpress and Whatcar are a bunch of muppets in my opinion! Take it you that you drove the car yourself and made your own mind up? Read many reviews and still shocked by how much info the 'experts' get wrong. At the end of the day guys it's your opinion that counts, not someone else's.

Remember reading article about a guy from Autoexpress complaining that the auto wipers kept messing up the windscreen in the winter and that it was driving him nuts, I sat there thinking "why don't you turn them OFF!", as I said muppets.

When did you order the car?

The gearbox reminds me of the old Citroen AX I used to own. 6 gear is very chunky and solid whereas the 5 is much less defined but neither are bad.

Nowt wrong with my gearbox even after trying to be crunched by learners. Shows how good the box is as this didn't happen very often.

Ordered the car 2nd September and dealer has been in touch regarding build date (he's my brother-in-law so I think I can trust him!!) But I agree, I take cars as I find them and my 20 min testdrive proved faultless.. This feedback has definately reassured me :-)

Thats good to hear that he has given you the estimated factory exit date, but he has broken the 'golden' rule of the motor trade - NEVER sell a car to family or friends!

Mine's neither vague nor notchy - it's light & positive with a good "mechanical" feel to it.

I test drove the 150THP and loved it, hadn't even considered the gearbox on the 120 :-S Read lots of reviews but didn't make my decision based on any.

Pleasure to drive though and really love my car, never had any concerns!

It's like every gear isn't exactly where it's supposed to be and i personally got gearlever to hit my hand while reversing (jumped out from the gear), so i guess you need to be more precise with your gear changes.

Only drove it for 20minutes, so no long term experience.
