  • Long-time lurker, now playing the waiting game...

    Hi all,

I've been lurking around the forums for a few months now, looking into what everyone has to say (good and bad) about the DS3, and I recently placed an order for a Polar White 1.6 VTi 120 DStyle+. So I thought it was best I come and say hi to you all, and thank you for your (indirect) help.

After numerous issues with Citroen, mostly really poor customer service from two different dealerships, and being unable to test drive the car I wanted, I've decided to go for it. After reading about everyone's experiences, and looking at all the awesome pictures, as well as driving the 150 VTi, I couldn't wait any longer.

And hopefully it won't be too long now, estimated to leave the factory 6th of November, so here's hoping it all goes to plan.

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

    Sam

Funnily enough, I'm also in Hertfordshire - had trouble with Letchworth Citroen (who got me there on the premise that they had a VTi 120 to drive, but didn't), and then numerous trips to Marshall's in Cambridge When i visited I was ignored completely on a couple of visits, and then after a complaint to Citroen UK I was invited back by the sales manager so they could make amends, and a guarantee I could see a DStyle trim at least - but when I got there he wasn't there and no one knew anything about the situation. Ended up driving a C4 with the same engine, and that was nippy enough, so I just went for it.

Can't wait to get her on the road!

It's a shame you that you couldn't get to drive the engine you wanted, but it's impossible for the dealers to have very version available to drive (Citroen doesn't pay for the demos the dealer does!).

We tend to put on versions that we know will sell on once they reach they 3 month point, which tend to be the diesel or the 150THP. At least the dealer you used had the thought to offer you a run in a car with the same engine on board in order to give you a taster.

Welcome to the club and remember to lurk no more!

I'm actually on the edge of Herts/Beds/Bucks. Living closer to MK and working in Watford. I went to the dealership in Hemel Hempsted but had no joy, so tried the one in Bletchley. Kinda gave up all hope about getting answers. Went to a wedding in Lincoln and the day after was feeling very hungover and wanted to mooch about town before driving back, popped into a dealership there and got everything I wanted to know. So got her from there.

I did test drive the 150THP at the Bletchley one, and was hooked! Having to drive my 1.4 C3 away was a big come down! My year on review in in my Sig of how we have done so far

Fully appreciate what Big said re models, and almost considered the diesel, but I've never owned one and couldn't even test a new C3 diesel to see how I got on with them, went with what I new I would like. And anything was going to be better than the C3

ds3adi has a lovely yellow one () and is down the road from me where I live and Arlow has a white racing and is right near where I work, we've been out for mini meets and catch up lunches so once you have yous, you'll have to join us

Sounds very familiar! They promised me that they'd call me when they had a THP available that I could try. Waited. Reminded them. Waited. Reminded them again. Nothing. Niente. Nada. Nichts. Rien. Sod all.

A couple of months later, having found a THP to try (and subsequently buy - some of us do it, Biggie!) at another dealership, I had pleasure in driving my shiny yellow DSport onto their forecourt and informing their oh-so-complacent sales team that they'd lost a sale. And I only live just around the corner from them.

Lol! I bet their faces were a picture!

Does annoy me when I heard stories like this, it's an old dealer tactic which tends to backfire as you have read. Maybe I'm too honest when I tell customers that I don't have (insert model) available, but do try and offer a work around as best as I can.

Totally appreciate the situation with Citroen and their demo cars, but it was just so frustrating getting lied to all the time. You'd think that getting Citroen UK involved would have helped, but they were about as interested in my custom as Marshall's were! After experiencing excellent customer service from Audi and Honda, I very nearly went looking for a different car - but I just couldn't let the DS3 go!

Anyway, I'm not here for a whine-up, done plenty of that already!

WTF - will definitely be keeping my eyes and ears open for news of a meet up with you guys. I'm in the Hertford/Stevenage/Bishop's Stortford area, so would be good to get together with you all, and hopefully get to one or two bigger meets as well!

Hi Sam. I used to live near Bishop's Stortford before moving to Watford 6 years ago, you might be able to tell from my forum name what town I used to live in You won't regret buying a DS3 even though you haven't had the best of experiences with your local Citroen dealer, they're not all the same & I can highly recommend Palmers of Watford. I too didn't test drive the same model DS3 that I wanted, but that wasn't my dealers fault, Citroen hadn't built any Racing's September last year As WTF said you'll have to come & meet us when you get yours
DS3 Racing, also available in White!!!

I think I can make an educated guess as to where you used to live Arlow! I actually work, and went to school, in Stortford so I know it quite well!

How are you finding the Racing? I was very tempted, but it defeated the object of getting something which is cheaper to run, so in the end I had to go with what my head was saying! The C4 I drove with the 120 VTi was quite nippy, so I imagine a DS3 with the same will be even mroe fun to drive!

Let me know when you guys are getting together and I'll do my best to be there!
