  • Just saying hi :) Seriously considering a DS3!

Originally looked at HDi versions, but consistently looking at 150bhp!! lol
Am a welshman living in the West Midlands, and hoping to get a DS3 very soon..... Also been looking at 2.2 Honda Civic diesels too....... still not sure what is best value

      Hi Errolevans and welcome.

The Civic is definitely a pretty nice looking car, but it is a bit bling-y and doesn't quite ooze class the way the DS3 does. Plus you see dozens of them on the road and they don't turn heads the way the DS3 does.

I go with Jimbob - forget he value and just go with what you feel good in. After all, all of us on this site probably went through similar thought processes before making our decision and I don't think you'll find anyone with any regrets....

Well budget is £13-15k, hoping for leather interior, and possibly sat nav too (though I have heard it's not the best??)
Currently driving a C4 HDi and although enjoying the economy, the fact I only cover about 7-8k miles a year means I want something more fun (Previous car before that was an awesome Fiat Coupe 20VT!!)
Thinking the 150BHP version performance is similar to the coupe, but with better economy..... so leaning towards that version rather than another diesel. Insurance not really a problem as I have run some quotes and actually been quoted cheaper for the 150BHP petrol, than the Diesel Sport!!!
        Happy for any advice
Cheers, Mark (errol was my first cat so usually errolevans on forums lol)

MArk. Don't buy the honda after all it's near the end of it's model life isn't it. Buy the coolest car around unless you wait for the convertible (if it gets made)

            Welcome errolevans

I've ordered the DSport HDi Diesel, really would've prefered the 150bhp but i do a lot of miles so it was economy in favour of fun. Mind you i've heard the Diesel handles pretty well itself so i can't complain.

Anyway what i'm saying is buy the Dsport 150bhp you won't regret it. It is Top Gear "Car of the Year" after all!

                Hi Mark, welcome aboard.

The THP is a great choice. The Civic's very long in the tooth, & no longer the head-turner it once was. Also, the suspension isn't as good as the previous model, whereas the DS3 has a terrific ride/handling mix.

welcome . it depends what you're looking for- the ds3 is a much more fun looking car as well as being more unusual. the hondas are super reliable but also so common/quite boring imo.

Well, after a few test drives and much soul searching, I went completely mad and ended up with a Alfa Romeo Spider!! Got a 58 plate with 17k on the clock for the same as a 60 plate DS3 with 3k on the clock......... I got the diesel alfa which is comparable in economy to the THP DS3, costs a bit more in road tax, not as practical.... but it's one of those cars..... you see it, you know it's going to be trouble.... but you fall in love with it!!! ...... having said that, I do still love the DS3
Just wanted to add...... Jimbob is right.... always go with your heart with cars........ as long as you can afford it!! lol
