Best Clay Bar

Know nothing about clay bars. I generally get the car washed every 10 days or so and once a month give it a polish and touch in the odd stone chip to keep it looking spruce. Hickory brown needs to be shiny to look good,so I keep it clean, so is a clay bar a good idea then and how often should one use it? and is it better for dark colours?

Just clayed the car, mixed results.
Loads of crap came off, and I mean loads, could feel the bar picking it up. - Good
The cars paint finish now looks somewhat dull, ive broken for lunch so haven't polished or waxed yet but the marks left by the bar are more noticeable than the grime it cleaned off. (Before anybody asks, I followed the instructions from this there forum and then washed the car again after).

Could just be that dried then. Looking forward to seeing it after its polished!
