Know nothing about clay bars. I generally get the car washed every 10 days or so and once a month give it a polish and touch in the odd stone chip to keep it looking spruce. Hickory brown needs to be shiny to look good,so I keep it clean, so is a clay bar a good idea then and how often should one use it? and is it better for dark colours?

I think you're supposed to use the Clay Mitt (or bar if you have the patience) when you can feel that the paintwork is no longer smooth. If you run your hand over it and it feels bitty then you should use the clay mitt to remove the contaminates from the paint

This, run your finger over the paint with no pressure, if it's never been clayed it will feel slightly rough, after claying it should be silky smooth.

Just clayed the car, mixed results.

Loads of crap came off, and I mean loads, could feel the bar picking it up. - Good

The cars paint finish now looks somewhat dull, ive broken for lunch so haven't polished or waxed yet but the marks left by the bar are more noticeable than the grime it cleaned off. (Before anybody asks, I followed the instructions from this there forum and then washed the car again after).

Could just be where the QD has dried onto the car whilst you have been claying. I've noticed this on my roof (black)

I kept away from using QD as advised on here, I tried a few methods including car shampoo direct onto the bar and shampoo/water mix sprayed onto the panel surface.

Il see how it looks once I've polished it.

The sun is out and booming, might delay the polish and wax until it dips, il crack on with removing the front seats for a good hoover.

Nice little trip up to see Jamie tomorrow, upgraded clutch, new HPFP and a Milltech exhaust inbound.

Reflections in my mirror and off the maroon roof after claying and polishing but prior to waxing.

Tried a few things but stuck with some car shampoo mixed with water (about 50/50) in a spray bottle.
