  • Looks like tar spots on the body work

Anybody have any ideas on what i can use to remove what looks like tar spots on my nice white body work?????

    Hi,

    For Tar I recommend this:

    http://www.autobritedirect.co.uk/ind...e-remover.html

However it's also worth de-contaminating any iron at the same time:

Any questions drop me a note, detailing is my passion!

    Regards,
    Clive.

        Hi Matt,

Shouldn't need elbow grease, which might also inflict marring.....have you tried claying it?

          Clive,
Just looking at this stuff - is this the best spray to use?? I have autoglym intensive tar remover which doesn't work very well. Plus it doesn't spray on, I have to use a cloth with it. My car is covered in tar spots and its doing my head in!!

          Ta,

I spent two days cleaning tar off mine a few weeks back (late starts and got dark early), at the point now of never cleaning it again it was such a soul destroying few hours. I really don't want to repeat it.

Used Autoglym intensive tar remover and a clay bar.

                  Clay thread

You'll need a lubricant, such as a quick detailer (QD) and a Clay bar.

After a mega clean, spray the QD on and rub the clay bar over, it will lift any impurities and remove stains such as tar. Really easy. Just work in small areas and keep it sprayed with QD

                  Get good results:

So is everyone looking forward to the summer when in addition to all the normal paint contaminants you also get Bee shit on the paintwork (mustardy coloured small circles) ?? My previous car was a magnet for them for some reason and I spent ages washing it all off every week....
