Not that it would negate the problem but it would be interesting.

I think I'll have a go because I'd like to put some wax on the inside to try and reduce the brake dust buildup:cool:

Hi Gents,
Yea, I recommend either a wax for the inside of your wheels or try a specialised wheel sealant designed to take the higher temperatures typical there, that withstand brake dust, etc.
There's some pretty decent ones on the market, worth a browse on DW for some choices.
I don't tend to use them, purely because I prefer to use a non-acid wheel cleaner weekly.......

All great stuff- ive got 3 or 4 bottles of stuff in a bright orange B n Q bucket.
Clive- why does a sheepswool mitt work better than a sponge (I use a mitt)
Why you get a heart attack over a sponge?
I use sponges, shammys (Chamois) and in the old days- fairy liquid- Ha!
Just wondering

Sponge - essentially a flat surface, traps dirt which gets compressed between the sponge's surface and the car's clearcoat - result = inflicts tiny micro-scratches = Swirl Marks
Wool Mitt - long fibres where the dirt should not be compressed, therefore (less) chance of inflicting scratches and therefore swirl marks. (Still possible if the wrong wash technique is used, but mitts are infinitely safer than sponges).
Chamois, can also act like sponges, i.e. trap dirt, whilst drying.
