I agree Clive P is your man, could do with some kind of batphone to attract his attention but then he does seem to have a canny ability to pick up on these cleaning related threads

                Clive,

Would it also be possible to grab those details? I have faint scratches on mine and I go gentle on the dash! Hah

                Cheers,
                Matthew

A tricky one indeed - one of the reasons I wanted a 'mottled' effect on the dash (I've got the 'mock' carbon fibre effect), was because I could see that gloss dashboard in the car I text drove would swirl like mad. Whilst I consider myself an expert on paintwork this is a little trickier. Firstly I think it might be worth getting a hairdryer and blowing the dust off in future before using your microfibre, as, unlike the paintwork you're not able to 'wash' the dirt/dust off before touching it with the microfibre.

In terms of polish it's probably a bit hit and miss on the plastic, I've not idea how 'soft' the plastic is - if it were me I'd probably try something like Autoglym Super Resin polish by hand, using just a little product, then buff off - this wont remove the swirls, but may 'fill' them adequately so that they are masked and look less severe. From experience of removing swirl marks from headlights and tail light lenses, I normally use my DA machine with something like a mild Merzerna polish, but I'd be treading very carefully on the dash with that as I've no idea if the plastic is 'different'.

So my advice is try some SRP and see if this improves it. Then, as much as it's OCD (!), use some sort of blower on the duct in future before you touch it with a microfibre. You might be as well giving the SRP a top up if it works.... (the SRP is good for the body work anyway).

                          Regards,
                          Clive.
