Any tips or suggestions for a pressure washer? Upto £100 at the most, less is better though ;-)

The one I use is the Nilfisk C120. Had it for 18 months now, used every 2-3 weeks and works very well. If you're planning on getting a pressure washer I'd suggest getting a snowfoam lance too (I use this one).

    Hope this helps

      Agree with a Nilfisk

      http://amazon.co.uk/dp/B00AZKE2HC

But don't agree with a snowfoam lance. Take it from one who really does know; a snowfoam lance is an expensive(ish) waste of money and beyond the hype and the excitement of seeing your car and the whole road turn white, I would persuade you not to waste your money on one.

The results of the snowfoam application are good but not as good as they should be for the money spent.

Please, please buy a cheap 1-2L garden pressure sprayer and buy a bottle of pre-rinse (Surfex, RDS, citrus rinse), dilute down and apply. Leave to soak then jetwash off. Much cheaper and much better results than a snowfoam.

If anybody does use a snowfoam, please make sure you close the doors first

Wish I'd read that advice about the snowfoam and lance earlier this year Andy

To be fair I do like using mine but it does make a lot of mess, will be better when we have our house next year but I do tend to cover the other cars in the flats car park as well

Will try your recommendations after Christmas when I have some money, I did see the pics you posted of yours the other day and the results were amazing...

If you look at the Karcher ones it's best to look at the K3 series with the water cooled induction motor, they have a much better pump and longer warranty. I used to have a nilfisk before but it wasn't drained properly once after use and froze up in the shed, which doesn't do them much good  and as the other guys said if your going to invest in a pressure washer a snow foam lance is a must.

Dont think I'll get a snow foam because it would make a mess on the street where I live and I live on a blind bend, knowing my luck I'd end up spraying all over a cars windscreen and they'd rear end my car.

The pre rinse stuff, where would you recommend getting it from?

Hi Phil, these are a couple of the places I use as well as the usual ebay/amazon etc

Don't bother with the snow foam, Autoglym do this amazing stuff call Traffic Film remover which you spray on and leave for a few minutes. Much more effective than the foam without the mess.

Only thing is though the you will need to find out who the wholesale supplier is in your area as it's a trade product only.

Bilt Hamber Surfex HD which i dilute 1:10 for a mucky car, from here pal.
                            http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/b...d-5-litre.aspx

So obviously 5L would make 50L which when using 500ml per application would make 100 applications possible. Therefore 16p per clean if my maths is correct.

Demon Rapid Dirt Shifter is £4 per litre bottle available from Morrisons supermarkets. I haven't tried this diluted yet so this obviously is more expensive at £2 per 500ml application.

Valet Pro also do a very good one, again can dilute 10:1.

                            http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/valeti.../prod_728.html

                            19p per application

Surely a dilution of 1:10 would make 55 litres i.e. 5 litres of Surfex plus 50 litres of water?
