Ahem... Haha!
I might try a microfibre first before ordering more brushes. Does anyone know if there's anything dangerous behind the wheel if I stick my arm behind and try clean the insides that way? I'd never hear the end of it if I chopped my arm off cleaning an alloy...

Well, using a microfibre cloth I got the backs of the wheels and spokes nice and clean again. Unfortunately there's something sharp on the front wheels and I sliced my thumb. Not bad enough for stitches I don't think, but I have a shoddy immune system and I had lots of muck on my hands so I'll need antibiotics and they'll probably steri-strip the cut back together too (it's quite deep, and about 3/4 inch long). So I'll have to be more careful next time - although I'm happy with them now

after having a lengthy conversation with andy i ordered this http://www.amazon.co.uk/UF-Caliper-S...=wheel+wollies have used it twice and its great for getting at the back of the spokes and the more hard to reach parts of the wheels.

Sorry to hear my technique caused you an injury :P I always find the back wheels effortless, and the front ones are a little more tricky due to larger calipers.
Anyway I'm happy with the results I get, hopefully without causing too much damage to the alloys (...or myself!)
