  • Fuel octane question...from the new boy

    Sorry for the daft question....

As you may of read I'm purchasing a ds3 Dsport + 155 on Friday...

What unleaded fuel is ok to run this car on??

    95, 98, or 99 Vpower/Momentum Tesco?

I read my engine suffers from Inlet Valve carbonisation, the same as my 2.0.TFSi in my VW and run that on 99 octane always.. Is 99 the best for the THP engine aswell?

    Thanks guys

I believe THP owners recommend VPower
Current: DS 3 Performance, Perla Nera Black with Sparkly Purple roof
Previous: DS3 DStyle 120 VTi, Perla Nera Black with Fuchsia roof

Shell V-Power Nitro+ for me. I'm not sure if it makes a difference tbh, but for a few pence a litre I'd rather be safe than sorry.

My previous car was a THP155 and I had it for 16 months. I always used premium unleaded ( of various types ). I believe
the dealer told me when picking it up that it would run ok on normal unleaded. The advice I got off here was to use
premium unleaded so that is what I used, and had no issues with it.

I now have a THP 155 Techno and intend to run that on premium unleaded.

        Regards Tbart.

BP Ultimate for me- like the extra cleaning power claims. Not sure the claims are accurate tho :-)

              Ed= Maybe I should give V-Power a go :-)
Least 6 tankfuls they reckon dont they? Till the ECU recognises the different fuel and adjusts

Told a specialist Tuner I was going to use MOMENTUM (Tesco) Ron 99, and he said "too much ethanol mate"
So, whilst not understanding exactly what he meant, i never used it

Surprised about the ethanol comments Chris, on the TFSi forum that I run my Edition 30 GTi, 99 momentum is more recommended the Vpower, and out performs it in independant testing .

But is it good for the engine in the long run

Its like saying a remap is great for the Turbo in the long run...
