i was intreagued by this thread - as well as a little concerned that i might have been ripped off so i sent my rep at the dealers who has up until now done a fantastic job on my deal as well as keeping me informed about all that is going on: I asked what was included and whether i would only get one service.. here is his reply.

    "Good morning,

I am a bit puzzled by your email. The 3yr / 35k service contract is just that. It covers you for 3 yrs or 35k's worth of servicing. With the mileage you will be doing it would cover you for a service at 12500 miles and one at 25000 miles. Also at 2 yrs old the vehicle have a brake fluid change. With an average service costing circa £200 this represents quite a saving.

I hope this answers your concerns."

I guess this does answer my question. I will still make a saving on the servicing doing 30'000 miles a year.

Joe do you have the DSport 110 hp Diesel? If so and if you are doing 30,000 miles a year which is about 2500 miles per month, Citroen refers that as Arduous which looks like it's excluded.

      Clause 6.2 on the contract.

To be honest with you the Service Plan is as clear as mud, but I plan to have a nice chat with the person responsible at Citroen as see if I can get everybody query answered.

Well, at least I now feel vindicated for asking the original question. When I had the initial replies I still thought to myself that this is "clear as mud" but didn't like to appear rude to the people who tried to help. I feel sure that there prob is a saving to be made somewhere but how much and whether it is worth it I still don't know!!

Bigfeet if you can get a definite answer to this one it would be very useful to us all. Thanks in anticipation. Lel

its like most things dealers don't or won't explain exactly what your getting or play on the fear factor to sell you addons. i take it the dearlerships and salesmen are on commission to sell these packages. i was offered the servicing package, supagard and gap insurance over and over again and they couldn't get it that no meant no.

the gap insurance that was offered Cost £399. i found a package on the internet back to invoice for £100 with £7500 cover

the supagard was turned down several times but when i went to sign for the finance on the car she said great news i have managed to get the supagard included in the price of the car, when i got home it had added to the price not included. a con job straight back up and played hell and had it removed.

The Service Plans don't pay anything out to the dealer.

Must say that £7500 is a wee bit short, I sorted my VRI out for £175 and got £15000 cover to Invoice with St Andrew's

                  Now I'm totally confused.

Service interval on a 99g is 12,500 yes?
Which would mean 2 services yes?

I think you're supposed to take it out BEFORE you wreck your car Zack

To my understanding the gap insurance works in the event your car is a write off, rather than the car being valued and you getting a lump sum back Citroen will replace your car to the exact same spec you purchased from them initially.

Re the GAP Insurance ala seemed best on price and past experiences, my dealer tried to sell me an Axa one I think but did offer to match the ala price.
Depends on product back to invoice just makes up difference between what insurace value car in write off/stolen, or you can have a cover of x eg 20k so if insurance only value at 7k gap insurance should give you 13k to clear finance/buy something.
Read any small print/etc first lol - I think mine was 20k of cover for 180ish then using cashback site bit more off.

Yeah I looked at ala gap insurance. My quote was £109 plus I can transfer it to another car if I sell the ds3, which in 23 years of driving I have never kept a car more than 18 months lol as I get bored. So i guess I will defo be transfering the GAP
