What fault codes did record the first time it happened?

      Shudder judders

Very same thing happened to me 3 weeks ago on A23, and I'd been having P1340 and associated codes across all 4 cylinders for a month- and had even rung up and told them that. They told me not to worry unless a warning light came up. It did in the end "Engine failure- serious problem" or something like that LOL.

Got the car back today, and it seems pretty good so far, but only done 10 miles

Mine was dealt with in the order they did it, after being instructed by Citroen Techincal:

      Injectors
      ECU replacement
      High pressure fuel pump
Then they gave it a full service....air filter, oil/filter, brake fluid, plugs etc. 23,000 miles so far.

      My varying fault codes were P1385 P2339 P2338 B2AAA P1340 (Engine killer)

All the work would have cost "Well over 2 grand" if it was out of warranty. They also had another THP in with the same issues so the CS Advisor let slip

Also had the inlet valves decarbonised for a cost of round £800 5 months ago (All these prices are retail- doubt Citroen charge this amount to themselves)

Customer service was tops tho. Thanks Lloyd.

      Sheeesh.

Thing is- i still love the car, the cabin, the colour, the shark fin, the decals, the seats, the......

        Buy a diesel DSport

Joni was in the same boat and she was lucky enough to experience my last engine failure, pulling out of Morrisons car park; it sounded like we were back in the war.

Ever since then she's been put off THPs.

Will just have to decide whether to keep it after warranty expires

Don't buy a diesel dsport had the same problem after 20k miles, 4 new injectors on cylinder 4, out of warranty. Luckily only had to pay for labour due to citroen goodwill (although still £600 for a few hours work...ouch)

^ Yes- the shine has worn off a bit. But its still a great car when it works
All planned modifications shelved, will keep as standard other than the Turboback exhaust and lowering springs

Expect that rules me out of an extended warranty too.
                a year to decide :-)

mine is a Dsport+ with 37k on the clock (due to work mileage)

Is the warning I've had both times, is there a technical name for what's up with it as I'm not ,100% on cars and I.usually get baffled by science at dealers etc...

                  Cheers

You like me have found a sympathetic understanding dealer some people have not but as said we should not be having these failures at such a low mileage

It must be costing Citroen a fortune

Whenever an error message pops up on the screen it will create a fault code which is stored on the cars computer.

These codes can usually point a mechanic in the right direction of where the fault lies. With the symptoms you've reported I wouldn't be suprised if the car is in for a significant amount of time.

If ever this happens again, don't try to fix it just by driving the car hard. There's a good chance you could make the issue worse.

You've posted a picture of your display showing the error message:

"Engine fault: repair needed"; should be self-explanatory!

When the AA bloke pulled up and plugged his doobery into my scart plug thing (OBD2 port) he said" Howlong have you driven it since the problem occurred" and I told him about a mile and a half .... but I wasn't sure

He said" Don't worry- Citroen will be able to tell via the ECU fault code"

And I thought good job I hadn't driven far, as bet they would have nullified the warranty
