When I bought my car I didn't bother taking out a service plan, manager of Citroen told me I'd need it serviced by a Citroen dealer such as themselves until the 3 year warranty is up and then I can get my boyfriend to do it if I wish cos otherwise it will void my warranty. I assume then this is just a way to squeeze more money from customers?

Also, if you self service and it needs a warranty claim is there a bigger chance that it won't go through warranty and you'd end up with the bill?

Just curious, I'm going to take mine to the dealers to be serviced just to keep myself right lol

^ When you self service you need to keep a really good record of everything that is done, when it was done, receipts and proof of parts used. Anything less and you will have a fight on your hand when asking Citroen to pay out for a large warranty claim!

Currently use Citroen (Autoworld) in Chesterfield - service is generally OK but could be better and things do seem a little on the pricey side. They also try an get as much money fro you as they can for things that my not really be necessary.

The partner's car is a 2014 (14 plate) DSport Plus 115 Airdream eHDI which was purchased from new in March 2014. Around 3 months later she had a fault with the leather front seat which would not stay in the upright position. The backrest literally just moved backward and forwards - how it would if you were letting someone into the back seat. Citroen said this was quite a common problem?

Car was booked in and 3 days later the front seat was replaced (they had the car for 1/2 a day). When she got the car back the USB reader would not work and the option was no longer available to select. A week later the car went back, they again had it for 1/2 day and had apparently disconnected it during the previous work and forgot to re-connect it.

All the above was under warranty with no cost.

On 6th March the car went in for it's first service and had done 7800 miles with no faults. The only thing we were a little concerned about was the nearside H7 bulb had blown twice so we asked this to be investigated. The service sheet came back saying:-

        Operations

        1. Carry out complimentary vehicle check
        2. Carry out 16000 mile service
        3. Provide Service Plan quote and present to customer with benefit sheet
        4. Customer reports headlight bulbs have blown twice - please check and report

        Part Number

        1. 1109AY - Oil Filter
        2. 031340 DRN Plug Seal
        3. 1609428180 BTCH Of Filters
        4. FULLYSYTHCIT Oil 5-30/40 404/507 Total
        5. 621697 Bub H7 2 Prong - see notes

        Invoive Report

        1. Carried out first service, replaced front headlight bulbs with Citroen bulbs - customer to monitor
        2. Carried out visual inspection
        3. Carried our Campaign Check
        4. Carried out wash leather and vacuum
        5. Carried out vehicle health check

The cost of this was £242.70 which included nearly £20 for two bulbs.

£242.70 for a first service just seemed quite steep, especially considering the work they've done - can't remember ever having a first service that expensive. My first 2 services for my current car have been less than £150 each. Also, she was sold 2 H7 bulbs! The car already had 2 working Citroen H7 bulbs (we had told them they had been replaced previously with Citroen bulbs) so don't really know what that was about? The fact they had blown twice seems a little strange and we'd asked for the car to be checked - don't know why the bulbs needed replacing as I would think the fault potentially lies with the car?

If you bought the car from new, shouldn't the service have been free? (This might only be on PCP though).

Sounds like they didn't do a check on the lights like you'd asked though, replacing the bulbs doesn't solve the problem IMO.

Not sure - bought it new through work as, via LexAutolease, we have a contract with Citroen and receive quite a large discount. Free servicing was not mentioned at purchase or when the car was taken in. I'll do a bit of googling but if anyone has any experience of this or more info it would be appreciated.

Exactly what I though however the car's now been back for 2 weeks and the bulb's been OK - on the day the car came back I did swop the Citroen H7s out and replaced them with some 65w 2100 Lumens Osrams. Apparently these are H9s on a H7 base and give out 40% more lumens than stock (the difference is noticeable). After two weeks they are still OK so fingers crossed ATM.

Check with the service reception to see if it has servicing.
When I bought mine second hand I purchased a service plan with it .I later found out it came with 3 years servicing from new.
But the dealer didn't tell me that when he was selling the car and service plan to me.
I got my money back for the service plan and just had a free 2nd service.
Although they did try to sell me 2 new tyres ,tracking ,aircon service and new brakes.!! They must have been trying to recoup some money
