  • Well that was a waste of a day...

Ds3 was meant to be away today getting it's rotten Aphrodite's replaced. Now obviously being a Citroen main agent Springfield managed to balls it up by ordering the wrong wheels. But hey at least I didn't get charged for use of a C3 which I used to brave the Metrocentre.

Suppose it wasn't a total waste of a day..driving the puretec petrol was an illuminating experience in that it showed up how bad the old E-hdi is while returning similar economy and just how much of a ds3 is C3.

But yeah so glad this was my day off couldn't have thought of a better way to spend it..

I had a C3 on Monday. I hated it so much I didn't drive it any further than to the house and back to the dealership

Was it the most recent one? The one with the same dash, gearbox, instruments, pedals, seats, basic steering wheel, trip computer..well pretty much everything except the door cards (which have to be different for obvious reasons) as a DS3? There are detail differences obviously, no engine temp gauge in C3 for example but otherwise it'd be hard to tell the difference blind folded. Maybe a dSport to a C3 is a bigger difference. Only noticeable difference other than a petrol engine was a little more body roll and more composure to the ride on poor surfaces oh and rather weirdly light steering.

Had two this year, both 15 plates. Think the one on Monday was a 65 plate so even newer.

The seating is odd, the gear stick feels like its made out of a loo roll tube, any speed in a corner and it feels like it will topple over. I couldn't accelerate anywhere. Yeah, the steering is really light!

My first DS3 was a Dstyle 120 Vti but compared to that the C3 was horrible.

The VTR + gets the same seats as fitted as standard to a dStyle + just in different material, also the gearbox is the same just doesn't have the ball gear knob. It isn't particularly good (it's been the same in psa cars for years) but the DS3 one is the same at least in the diesel. I didn't get a blast out in it given its been raining sideways all day and it took an hour to fight my way through the traffic (and get to do it all again thanks to their incompetence) to Springfield but unless you do get to corner at speed then they are the same car. Perhaps if we didn't have a 90bhp ds3 the difference would be more marked.

I take it the Aphrodite alloys suffer from corrosion?

Yup all 4 of ours have white rust around the centre caps after 6k although the 1st one was bubbling after 3k.

Might be an idea to pop the centre caps off if you can and clean where they sit, ours started like this and spread outward. Either dirt and grime got trapped by the centre cap and started the process off or the finish was damaged at the factory as the wheels have never been off to my knowledge.

Changed my Citroen centre caps for the DS ones i gave the wheels a good clean and a coat off poorboys sealant. See what they look like after the winter.

Well this has now turned into 4 wasted days car went in for four new wheels today. On inspection apparently all 4 tyres are beyond repair due to nails. So they are fitting new wheels and tyres due to that but it'll be Friday. I fail to see how all 4 wheels and tyres on a 6k mile car should be beyond repair and I had been monitoring them due to the discovery of the arse tyre pressure sensors and none were losing air. The rim protection had a nick out of one of them..which apparently wasn't mentioned at the service but all of sudden became a dangerous yawning chasm today. It's not changed since then so either they didn't service it properly or it wasn't dangerous...oh and they've demanded the courtesy car back today as well leaving my OH without a car, so I'm currently Mazdaless.

If it wasn't a lease and the lease company wasn't liable for the new tyres I'd be down their demanding to see the nails as I'm starting to sense fast ones being pulled or it starting to strike me as convenient. Part of me thinks they were hoping they could put the tyres on themselves and charge it back to the lease company to bring some money in but the lease company haven't played ball and insisted their people do it.

Either way well done DS...you make Fiat look competent, every time we go near a Citroen dealer I'm thankful we don't own this car, seriously who takes a courtesy car back when all you've got apparently is their car on bricks? What happened to the old wheel and tyres that they couldn't have been put back on until Friday?

It took me five goes but I eventually found a decent Citroen dealer. Helpful, timely and have done a couple of things out of warranty for free. The parts department went way beyond the call of duty when my locking nut socket went missing.

Sounds like yours are trying it on.

My local dealer have been brilliant since 2012 - no issues whatsoever. As SfG said maybe you need to try another dealer or else complain to Citroen UK and see where that gets you
