The whole MPG thing is really interesting, my DS3's engine was slightly different to yours, I had the old 1.2 naturally aspirated 82bhp block, I've gone from that to a 1.6 turbo and I'm averaging exactly the same MPG.
This could be down to driving style or route but I think it's down to the fact that I had to be pretty heavy footed to get it going anywhere.
Over 13k miles in my DS3 I averaged 34.9mpg, over the first 2k miles in my A-Class I've averaged 34.6mpg. Granted my peak mpg in my DS3 was higher but on average my wallet is being emptied at the same rate.
Edit: noticed the metrics in my post are slightly wonky, the average is over the last 10 fuel ups (note not all of these would be empty to full tanks). The distanced covered in the A-Class is 2k miles and the distance covered in the DS3 to create the average is 3.4k miles.
