  • New DS3 - is this normal?!

So our leased DS3 is going back and we're in the process of getting a new one through our local Citroen dealer.

We filled out an order for a 13 plate DSport+ on Sunday, but the car is at another dealership and needs to be sent down (they told us 3-4 days).

I had to ring them today to query something on the order and they told me the car would be coming in on 28th but they want me to go down on Sat to complete the finance agreement - is this normal?

Im reluctant to fully commit without seeing and test driving the car, is there anyone here that would?! Presumably they could make all the promises under the sun to get us to sign, but if we sign and then find a problem on Tues they could just say 'sorry mate you've signed!'

    Am I being overly cautious?!

Look at and drive the car first.

Thats what i thought. He said he needed to get it in before the end of the month i guess to get his numbers up, but in my book he should have made sure the car was there this weekend then! We wont be able to get back down until 2nd July

That is his problem not yours.

Well I wouldn`t......Even on our approved used DS3, it was test drive, check over the car at leisure(spent about an hour) visually checking car, paintwork any other potential niggles etc only found a worn gear knob, this was replaced and a missing wheel nut cover which was also rectified immediately. This was all done in a careful and considered manner at Freeborn Southampton.

Their customer care is second to none. I did not agree or sign anything until I was 100% happy.

Two months later my black roof was resprayed under warranty due to flaking paint caused by bird poo, this was done also without quibble! The consumer is king and if at all in doubt should walk away.

That seems unusual, usually they tend to say that the vehicle is at another branch but on a signature to say that on test driven approval they are willing to get the vehicle across for you to test drive and then fill out the finance agreements.
I wouldn't personally fill out a finance agreement until you have driven it and completely satisfied, however i would sign something to say on test driven approval you would sign the finance agreement. Just thinking about it though if this is just an application for
finance they could need approval that you are credit worthy before they commit to the cost of transporting the vehicle?

I would ask it to be crystal clear what they are asking you to sign.

We filled out the order form and the finance form on Sunday but they said they would put the finance through this Sat after we'd seen the car (at the time they said the car would only take 3-4 days to be sent down). He now wants us to go down on Sat to put all the paperwork through, but i wont actually see or test drive the car until next weekend. It just seems a bit backwards to me!

Would you set up a direct debit for any other product you haven't seen or used?

As above, don't sign any finance agreement until you've seen the car and are 100% happy with it. As you said it sounds like he wants the sales figures for his target, in which case he needs to get his ass in gear to get the car in his dealership for Saturday doesn't he ?

A little odd but nothing unusual.

Is there something special about this car? With service like that I'd be walking away - looks like his commission is more important to him than customer satisfaction.

Not really, he told me 155 DSports were hard to get hold of though.

As you'd expect he was very helpful with his sales patter but now we've put the order in actually delivering the car seems to be an after thought!
