  • Got my DS3 yesterday!

    Hi all,

Just want to introduce myself, I got my Cherry Red (black roof) DStyle HDI 90ps DS3 yesterday - new company car! Got it specced with Leather and the DS Connect pack - though slightly wishing I'd gone for the city pack with the lights/reverse signals etc. Ah well.

Bit of a switch for me, the car I traded in was a 2001 Subaru Impreza WRX STi (Bugeye) - 275bhp. Awesome car, but I've been doing 100 miles a day 5 days a week and filling the tank with £55 of v-power super unleaded every 200 miles was starting to get a bit heavy on the pocket. (infact the money I will save on fuel will actually pay for the car itself!)

Currently living in Cambridge but make the run over to Hemel Hempstead every day at the moment.

Liking the car - a few observations

    1) Need to get used to the driving position, it feels a bit "high" but if I lower the seat and wheel to the right position I can't see the top half of the instrument bin - I'm sure I can figure this out though
    2) Slighly annoying rattle from the centre airvents/surround - but I think I can just wedge a ver small shim in between the trim and the top dashboard and that will fix it.
    3) Doesn't handle like an impreza
    4) Nippy through the gears (though it does feel like the gear throw is measured in miles - different from the short shift box on the scoob, and my wife's Civic type-s)
    5) The leather seats are very comfy
    6) The built in air-freshener stinks! even when it's closed

Is there some sort of rev limiter in 5th? It pulls nicely all the way up there but it seems very reluctant to go over 3k (which is a shade over 90mph when I tested it on my private track)

Other than that, getting used to the car and a long run up to Yorkshire over the easter weekend to show it off to the family!

    Cheers!

      Hi!

      Welcome along!

You could always take the air freshner refil bit out?! Mine sometimes has a rattle in the centre airvents to, clicks slightly. I don't use it too often though tbh. In the winter I keep my feet warm, and even though I have air con, I still have my windows down. I've got the 1.6vti , so can't comment on the rev limiter etc

If you see a white with black number plate, Nplate ends in WTF, thats me! I drive through Hemel on may to and from work

If you are free on the 21st May . . .Meet thread

That's what I thought - maybe it just needs a bit more running in

Good choice, and the saving in fuel is great,I have nearly halved my fuel bill per month, it may not handle like your old car but the DS3 is a hoot to drive.
I couldn't fix yer brakes so I made your horn louder!

It's just a case of getting used to it - given the AWD system in the scoob, coupled with decent tyres (at £120 a pop + fitting), you could pretty much point it at any corner, at any speed and you'd get round.

In comparison it feels like the DS3 will understeer at the slightest provocation.

This is not a problem with the car - more my driving style which needs re-adjusting (unless I want to end up in a hedge)

                  Some other things:

                  1) The glove box is suitable for perhaps one *small* pair of gloves - what on earth were they thinking when they designed it? Especially as the lid is so large

                  2) CUP HOLDERS - FOR THE LOVE OF GOD I NEED SOMEWHERE TO HOLD MY CUP

Though I did find that the front door pocket if padded with say a cleaning cloth is OK to put a bottle of coke in it.

                          Hi Savant, welcome aboard!

I'll look out for you in Cambridge, although my 65 mile commute takes me in the opposite direction to you (yellow & black DSport).
