  • Insurance cost & suggestions!

Guys I have been pre-quoted by http://www.comparethemarket.com for my soon to be Citroen DS3 1.6 HDi Dsport I really would love to get my insurance down as much as possible.. I am nearly 29 years old with a good amount of no claims under my name.

Any suggestion on how to get this down?

Assistance here would be greatly appreciated!

I am currently paying about £900 Per anum for my old Audi A3 1.8 SE (1999) and was wondering if I should stick with my Tesco Insurance and just add the new car onto that or look for an alternative.

£1800 on the THP Dsport - 22 - No no claims due to accidents on my bike with no points.

Swift Cover were the cheapest for me.

I've looked at the cost of insurance for my HDi 110 when it arrives. £400 with £250 excess. Bargain. Good ole Churchill.

As I mentioned in a thread on the DS3R board, my best quote for the Racing was £291 a year fully comp protected with 14 yrs NCB was with Admiral, nobody else was near that, next closest for me was Swinton at £337.

Have a look on Money saving expert, they have loads of really useful tips on getting your car insurance down. For a start, definately use the comparison websites.

there is also a website that you can go on to look at job titles. i found out that the amount they quote you is affected by the job role that you put down. i think my boyfriend saved at least £50 on his by picking a slightly different job role (it was still the same thing just worded differently).

not a massive saving but still worth a go

Don't forget to tell the insurance company about any options you have had fitted, including factory options (parking sensors brought down our insurance down by £25!).

Another tip is to write down everything you told the insurance company such as what job you told them and details of where the car is kept. Some insurers will give you a 'pop quiz' every time you call to make sure, if you write it down then you have a 'hymn' sheet to hand to answer off!
