i had the thp engine in the 207 and never got near the mpg of the book, my hdi does fab mpg, diesel all the way. However, if i just wanted for round town etc id prob choose the petrol, i find petrols easier to drive and more satisfying on stop start journeys

you could be waiting a lot longer for a diesel to arrive rather than a petrol aswell.

I have been leaning towards petrol, I do a lot of short journeys 4 miles to work and back, I also do motorway journeys once every month of about 350 miles over a weekend, this works out about 10k miles a year. So I think the diesel would have to impress me to change my mind. Why would the wait time be longer for a diesel?

Although in a slightly different position owning a DS3 Racing, having driven a 110 Hdi a couple of times I'd have to say go for the THP. I very nearly bought the 110Hdi and it is a fantastic engine, but petrol won for me at the end of the day.

On our way to the SE Meet yesterday I averaged 51MPG there, and a total of 47MPG overall including the journey home.

Well this all comes down to choice and opinions. I would go for the Diesel for the money saving measures but i would love to have a THP just to have a sweeter sounding engine/exhaust. Just test drive both and see which you like more.

Sorry I know this is a slightly older post - but I went through this dilemma after driving decent diesels for longer than I can remember! My present (until Thursday) Leon FR 2.0 TDI delivers 170 BHP but can do a very respectable 0-60 in just over 8 seconds with loads of torque to boot, and also do 40-ish mpg. On a long run it will do more of course.

However after seeing people saying they are getting high 30s or more out of the THP I've gone for that. I just couldn't bear around a 2 second loss on the 0-60 time I'm used to by going to the diesel in the DS3 Sport Plus. Anywhere around 40-ish and I'll be pleased! Fingers crossed!

                      Regards,
                      Clive.

Thanks Clive, I should have updated this thread really as I also decided to go for the THP in the end, after test driving both I knew I just wouldn't have been as happy with another diesel, I should be getting it the end of this week or next if I can persuade them to let me collect on a Sunday. My thinking is as long as I get 30+ mpg I'll be happy anything extra will be a bonus.

Jack, correct - and Steve lives about three miles from me, met him yesterday (drove to his house) and handed him my number plate ceritficate! Bizarre world isn't it, can't get a great deal at a dealer, make one phone call, then get a great deal with a dealer because 'I went through the internet' but not complaining, with the best part of a couple of K off!

                              Regards,

Yeah, I found it easier (and a lot cheaper) to buy like that than buy through the local dealers and Steve has been really helpful and has sent regular update emails.
