The main problem is detonation causing the knock sensor to trip out the engine management, put the car into safe mode and display engine repair needed. What Dave (my o/h) did was disconnect the battery then refuel with Shell V Power.

These THP engines, especially when running over 180bhp need Shell V Power 99ron, otherwise they get unhappy. We've experimented on our THP with over 211bhp, and Tesco Momentum 99ron is a close 2nd, but will still hesitate occasionally when the weather is really hot and humid.

The 98 and 97ron fuels are non-runners and shouldn't be considered in modified THP's. 95ron standard unleaded should be completely forgotten.

Since running V power, no hesitations.

I have filled my Racing up with fuel from different suppliers. I've used whatever Super Unleaded they have available most state 97 RON, she has never missed a beat even though the manual and the sticker in the filler flap state 98 RON. You try finding a supplier that sells 98 Ron.

Just use Shell V Power that's 99ron then!

Unfortunately Shell stations aren't everywhere & most manufacturers only supply 97 RON as super unleaded. As I've said my Racing has not missed a beat running what ever I've put in the tank.

I dont think the fuel has anything to do with it. Viezu have not changed the ignition timing in anyones DS3. When I had mine remapped I said I was only going to run it on 95, and they said that is fine. Going well so far.

You're not running the motorsport map though, which would be why 95ron is ok.
