Polar white DS......the plastic front bumper isn't quite Polar White in colour more of a "creamy white" for one of a better description the rear plastic bumper colour matches perfectly with the rest of the car :confused::confused:

I went back to the dealers today, and they agreed with me that the colour match isn't 100%, we looked at a further 3 Polar White DS's the dealer had prepped and were ready to go to customers and the front bumper on each of them was the same "creamy white ".

On one DS the front and rear bumper where both "creamy white ", this is so strange how can the bumper not match 100% with te rest of the paint work.

My dealer said they will look for a " proper match " bumper or send my car away to have the bumper resprayed.

I would appreciate it if you would go and check your cars, and post back your findings.

I have taken some pics but don't think they show the difference al that well, judge for yourselves.

There will be a very subtle difference to the colour when applied to the plastic bumper, normally you have to look closer before you will notice and is quite normal.

We had the local motoring journalist in today with a Cream Porsche 911 which was also the same and we teased him about it, so if the colour isn't 100% match on a £100,000 I wouldn't worry too much.

Unless of course the difference in the shades is very noticeable like from a couple of meters away.

Big, appreciate what your saying about plastic bumper, but the rear bumper is also plastic and thats a 100% match to the rest of the vehicle ? so why can't they match up the front one ?

WTF, Petewete, thanks look forward to see if yours is ok.

Zack, so yours is 100% match, so it can be done then.

My DS3 colour is Belle Ille Bleu and the rear bumper is a lighter shade to the rest of the car. Im not that worried about it but will mention it to the dealers when they pick it up to change the wheels.

The other thing is that the bumpers are not painted while on the cars, they are normally painted separate from each other and my understanding is that there are different batches of Polar White which might also explain the difference.

I also have a Belle Ile Blue and front is a slightly different shade. You would have to look close and do not notice it from a couple of meters away. A different batch of paint as Bigfeet suggests makes sense. Doesn't bother me.

It's the same on most modern cars. One explanation I've heard is that the paint used on bumpers has a plasticiser added, which can affect the colour.

Graham, love your OCD! If it's different it's different - could even be batch paint change or something (edit ; as I see Bigfeet has suggested)........sprayed by a different robot from a different paint supply, especially as the back one looks fine......if it bugs you, etc, etc.......

                        My reds match ok...

Been like that for long... I think the first one i noticed was a new focus in 2000 or something, since then havent seen a car with same colour bumber and rest of the car... Except for some more expensive cars ofc.

Firstly i have a white DS3 and my front and rear bumpers are slightly different to the rest of the car also.
We have a paintshop in work, where I do some of the spraying and I have to say white paint is always difficult if painted at different times and particularly by different painters, robot arms and such.
I firmly believe it is because of the thickness of paint that has been applied on top of the primer. E.G. white over grey primer for becomes more Cream coloured with each coat applied. I would assume bumpers have a slightly heavier application of paint due to their position and arduous conditions they face.
This would also appear true when you look closely at the bumper and it has a slightly heavier orange peel type finish than the car also indicating thicker paint application.
Very few white cars on the market today have perfectly matched bumpers, i suppose its a trade off to having saved £500!

You got it Clive, my OCD has kicked big time, the colour difference will bug me so it will have to be sorted, just don't think anyone should "just accept the colour diff because because because" it's a brand new car for flip sake.

I too believe the bumpers are sprayed then assembled onto the car, so it's a lottery if your bumper/s match, simply not good enough especially when you have OCD lol

Can't believe this hasn't been raised before ???????
