  • DS3 cleaning guilt

I am suffering from a lot of guilt about cleaning, or rather not cleaning my DS3.

It's all brought about by the boys and girls on this forum who seemingly spend most of their free time lovingly tending their motors and spending small fortunes on exotically named potions such as Collimite 1976 or Clay or whatever.

My car cleaning, traditionally, was a once a fortnight visit to the car wash. And this was the best I ever treated a car. Prior to that I would have used fairy liquid or, rarely, Turtle Wax and very occasionally I may have polished using one the Halfords own brand products.

I do not trust that the spoiler on my DSport will survive a car wash, and frankly I am too bone idle to wash once a week (the car, that is!).

What's the cheap and lazy way of keeping my car looking acceptable? Acccept that I will never achieve the showroom finish, or better, that many of the people on here do.

I don't think its bits staying on you need to worry about, moreso what it will do to your paintwork.

My car got this dirty as I didn't have a spare 4hours to clean her last winter:

    So I'm not that perfect!

I think your best bet to clean/wax etc to protect from dirt rather than spend hours each week just cleaning dirt off. Spending intial time doing this will prevent more time needed to clean (*hopes to get brownie points from clive*)

I've always spent ages cleaning my cars, even my fugly C3 would get a good wash as often as I could, so guess it's a good habit I have got into.

Showroom shine from Ideal World, one thing does everything. Easy on and easy off. No water needed unless grit on the car just to be safe

                No!!!!

No Car Wash - EVER! Even when the car is perfect.

Cars are for driving and not cleaning! NO!

Use a product that you spray on a dirty car and wipe off - NO!

Talk about 'Swirl' City cars robbed of shine and unloved!

Thank Goodness I only buy new cars!

This post has caused me convulsions and hyper-ventilation!!!!

(Must admit I've never understood the logic of spending tens of thousands of pounds on a car then never clean it... I think car salesmen love people who never clean their cars, as one told me once, people come in and buy a car just because they've not had a clean car for two years since they bought the last one!)....

Seriously, your money your choice, you give me a lot of work if I ever chose to do it for a living instead purely for the love of detailing...last one was a 23 hour correction and I loved it!

Déesse trois - I only spend a few hours a week - life is too short to waste it drinking or stuff like that! and I only sleep 4 hours a night so on top of business I can get the cleaning in!

It's alright Joni you'll love me when I make your car shinier, with deeper reflections and a wet look that is better than the day you collected it!

Clive, down boy. You will just someday have to accept that we all do not suffer from the same compulsive behavior. lol

                              Joni-that's just shameful
