  • Door and wing mirror rust complaint to ds3 head office

Ok so this is a bit random, but I’m currently having a bit of an arguement with Citroen uk about the common rust issues on the doors and wingmirrors of ds3.
The service I’ve had so far is laughable, from miscommunication and down right lies, to bodyshop refusing to even look at my car and saying it’s a paint issue and I’m not covered.

Anyways. During the convos I’m having with Citroen uk, I’ve pointed out how much of a wide spread issue this is, and how even the staff have confirmed this to me at dealerships, body shop and Citroen uk themselves at various points. So I’m thinking, would it be worth while collating details of other ds3 owners and taking this up with Citroen uk as a collective to prove it’s a manufacturing fault? I don’t mind taking this to the head office myself it’s just whether others would be up for passing me their names etc. Thinking power in numbers

It’s definitely a known issue, I’ve had mine repaired under warranty. Quite a few others on Facebook group have said similar too.

I’ve had to take it up with head office with mine. The whole situation and service I’ve recieved from cuk and the dealership and bodyshop is laughable.

Theyve automatically said its a paintwork issue and not covered before they’d even seen the vehicle. So i asked for an assessment so they booked me into the body shop. Then when I got there the estimator at first refused to look at the car as someone from the dealership had told him it was paintwork and it wasn’t under warranty. Eventually he looked after they told me the anti corrosion warranty was also three years and I showed them my maintenance guide to prove it was 12.

He then didnt send the photos through to the dealership or cuk and i had 3 separate people tell me it was paintwork and I wasn’t covered. I then found out body shop hadn’t even sent pics as I asked them.

Its a bit it more in-depth than just this but I’m feeling like they’re point blank refusing to even look at the possibility I’m right and not interested in investigating.

Sounds like you be been given the run around, I’d be trying a different dealer / trying to speak to CUK direct.

This is with cuk directly aswell as bodyshop/dealer. Ironically Citroen uk have just sent me a questionnaire to fill in on how they’ve handled my complaint. Hopefully will hear something from them after the bank hols regarding it now

There is a 12 year anti corrosion warranty but u need to have a check at 4 years and then every following years believe. However getting cuk to stand by the warranty is difficult I’m finding. They’re saying it’s a paint issue and not rust at the moment. Ironic really as the assessor who they asked me to go to to get the claim authorised and to take pictures agrees it’s rust. Cuk currently are refusing to speak to me now so I’m off to the ombudsman

Ajz did u get yours through a dealer? Frustrating that they won’t admit fault however it’d be massive if they did as I’ve read hundreds of comments with people in same position.

I have just sent some images of the blisters coming up on my drivers door to the dealer that I got mine from, they seem to think it will be covered we will see.

Fingers crossed pal. Body shop said mines deffo rust however Citroen ain’t even looked st his report and told me it’s paint and closed my claim. It’s laughable.

I have been speaking to someone and even if it is paint there is the possibility of a claim, EU law states that you have up to five years to make a claim against a manufacturer for goods not being fit for purpose or of reasonable quality. In my book a car with paintwork/galvanising that can't stand up to even four years of normal use is not fit for purpose and so that is the route I will explore if they say mine is not covered. The EU rules ignore any and all makers guarantees.

I’ll look into this thanks! As it stands now, Citroen have ignored all of the emails I’ve sent, they’re refusing to speak to me on the phone and have now blocked me from commenting on the Citroen Facebook site as a friend tagged me in a post about someone with warranty issues. Ive never known a company with such low customer service and complaint handling skills. I’m assuming they think if they ignore me I’ll go away. I’m going to look into the eu law on this. Do you have a link to the information at all? No probs if not and thanks for the help it’s appreciated

Oh and even though the body shop are agreeing it’s rust, cuk have contacted them telling them to stop discussing this with me. I asked if they could send me proof of the assessment I had and they said they can’t as Citroen won’t allow them to. They are going out of their way to make this disappear
