Just received email as picture above. Any advice as they’re agreeing it’s rust but still saying it’s not covered. Really fed up with this now

      Dalem

I can't see it any where in the posts so I will ask, how old is your car.

Blimey Dalem116 , they aren't for budging are they? Where did you buy your DS3 from? A Citroën dealer or other franchised garage?

I agree, sounds like this is not a battle you are gonna win unfortunately . Great effort for the amount of work you put in trying though.

Thanks funky. Bought the ds3 from a garage that wasn’t Citroen approved. Didn’t even think about it at the time and after looking at five others Jt was the nicest I’d seen.
And yeah I agree I don’t think they’re is anything I can do with this now. I’m beyond frustrated with the service I’ve had though and cuk changing their stories every two minutes. Think they’re well aware it’s a manufacture fault hence why the bodyshop refused to even look at my car when I got there after cuk booked me in weeks before.

Shame really. I love the ds3 but now have a hatred toward Citroen

Sounds like a good excuse for a full paint strip down and respray in that colour you’ve always wanted.

Hah I like that idea! I was looking at a wrap or dip what’s your views on them? Cheaper than painting but I’ve never had one before.

It can protect the paint but if it’s already damaged it will potentially get worse underneath. If you don’t want a full respray I’d get the doors fixed before wrapping. Will be cheaper overall than a full respray.

I think the quote I got for my (single) door respray was £650 from a Citroen approved body shop.

I do think full wraps can look good though, there’s a lot more choice than paint alone and they can be pretty high quality nowadays.

I asked at the body shop where I had the assessment photos taken how much their estimate was for the paint job and they wouldn’t tell me. Said they’d been told by cuk not too. He said he could do me another assessment but would cost me £30 so it’s just put me off using them and Citroen now.

I’ve had a look at a few independent spray places and been quoted £240-260 for both doors and to be honest I was surprised by how cheap it was. I’ve never had anything sprayed before but I’m a little worried whether it matches etc so going to read a few reviews on the places that have quoted me first.

Ill be gutted if it came back and its its a bad job or I can tell a paint difference

Sounds like the best choice IMO. As I said, my quote was from an ‘approved’ body shop for a full door skin replacement and respray. It was quality work but I wonder if it could be done cheaper if the skin wasn’t replaced.

I have the same problem. I only bought the car at the end of July (2018) The car 5 years old but there is rust appearing (quite badly) under both mirrors. I have contacted the Motor Depot that I bought it from and they are looking into it, I have also contacted Citroen but they do not accept responsibility, naturally as it is out of warranty, and I understand that, but if this is an ongoing issue then yes, something should be done and we as owners should get together and demand some action from Citroen?

If your car had the paint inspection at the 4 year service, Citroen should cover it. If not, you're probably out of luck unless you can get them to do it as a good will gesture. You can check your service book for the stamp but Citroen don't remind people that the check is needed.
