Citroen DS3 slated big time on telly this morning

Just watched "Dont get get, get Dom" 10.45 BBC

DS3 White owner, single exhaust, constantly had "engine fault" warning lights on. Citroen said its a software problem.

Not sure but think it was a diesel as they talked about gloight plugs.....but not certain

Not great by support by Citroen- probably biased toward owner but still didnt seem fair

Correction- "Dont get Done-get Dom" name of programme. TYPO- "Gloight" should read "Glowlight"
Owner Becky werent happy- couldnt blame her really. Battled for 5 months, 5 visits to garage. Werent allowed to reject the car as it hadnt actually broken down.
Marc Raven at Citroen Press Office contacted. Pretty much all to do with engine management system, nothing wrong with the car.
The programme stated it wasnt a complaint about the car as such, more about the Customer service received.
Result was bunch of flowers, and a FULL REFUND which was the only option in my opinion, even though 4000 miles done.

DS3 is not getting slagged off at all but just the way the customer was treated over the problem, like Dom said its a great car and would not have received the Car of the Year otherwise.
Great car but bad service in this instant.

I agree that it was about the customer service (or lack of), but there is no way a brand new car should be experiencing this kind of problem. During my time with my DS3 it never once let me down or gave me any problems and it was the much maligned THP. Unfortunately, due a change of circumstances my DS3 has moved on to hopefully another owner who will enjoy what is a cracking little car as much as I did. Due to business requirements and mileage, I needed a much bigger car and have switched to an oil burner rather than petrol. I did look at the DS5 but as my DS3 lost 50% of its value in less than 2 years I was very uncomfortable at throwing £30k + at it.

I think that Citroen have sort of upped their game with the DS range, but if they continue to provide such a shocking level of customer service then they will never shake the tag of cheap and cheerful - which is a real shame. Was the DS3 an improvement over past Citroens I owned? Yes very much so but, there were still certain aspects of its build quality that I had to question for what I paid for it. These were nothing serious, but down to a lack of attention to detail in some areas.

Loosing coolant - still a problem
Noise on start up from engine - still a problem
Osf seat creaking - still a problem
Power steering difficult to turn randomly - still a problem
Driveability when cold rubbish - still a problem

I keep taking it back to the dealer - they are useless.
when I took it back for the heater matrix, the dealer told me the dash board/windscreen may have to come out and they couldn't be held responsible for any damage incurred!
After I pointed out the dashboard or windscreen don't need to come out to complete the job, he looked at the time given and surprise surprise the dealer gets 0.9 hrs to complete the job.
All the other faults I just keep getting can't find any fault.
Although I did ask why my car needed to complete 50+ miles on the road with a cold running issue and clutch judder when cold!
No answer!

Reject it under the sale of goods act. If you watched this mornings show then you know that you have the right to do so. It is a shame that owners are having these issues as it really had the potential to be a great car.

When I was deciding between the Audi A1 and the DS3 I told the sales guy about my worry about resale values compared to the A1. He assured me the ds3 would hold on to more of its value :confused: Looks like that was not true! I agree about the build quality - it is better than previous Citroens but still unacceptable in places. My carpet footwell is threadbare and the section under the glovebox is dropping down and hanging loose - both, Citroen said is wear and tear! Laughable on a 10 month old car.
I really like the ds3, had it a year and no major issues! It is stylish and the diesel engine is a peach. Unfortunately my opinion of Citroen as a brand has not changed. I have had it a year and will be changing it in 6 months and really like the DS4 but I daren't buy one as I feel it will lose loads come resale and don't trust Citroen if any problems arise - wear and tear they will most likely say!

Hmm, I've always had good service from them even though my Ds3 was not supplied by them. This includes replaced alloys allround, seat taken apart and rebuilt. I know the service manager can be a bugger but being polite and calling his bluff the first time has worked for me.

I think what he told you about resale value is not far off, rule of thumb is a loss of 50% after the first 3 years on a new car although some are slightly less and some slightly more so if this is true then your 3 year old DS3 costing 17k should be more than 8.5k with about 30-36k on the clock which sounds more than realistic?
So if a 2010 110 diesl DS3 next year sells for more than 8.5k it's on the right side of better than average.
