I average over 61MPG on a mixed route of A-road and motorway with no standing traffic. Really happy with economy compared to my previous 2.0D in my Mazda 6 Sport which only achieved 41 MPG on same route (curiously the same as my Honda Civic 2.0 VTEC petrol S-type prior to that). A couple of months ago I travelled to Leeds on the M62 and was in a 50 MPH zone for about 15 miles so just left it in cruise at 50 and achieved 84MPG at the end of it.

Todays calculation of mixed driving with more open road and motorway work is less than pleasing. 590 miles, £90 of fuel at 140.9 = just over 41 mpg. Looks like I'll be calling the dealer next week.

As I'm going to the national next weekend, what would be the best way to calculate the MPG - old fashioned way, or should I trust the trip computer?

Just had a look I've put roughly about £130-140 of diesel in and I've got 1080 on the clock since new, but as I'm not at university atm all my driving is on the roads - so would 49MPG be about right?

I reset the trip when I fill up and always take my reading from one low fuel warning to the next, as well as remembering how much the fill up was and how much per litre I paid. Then I use this... http://www.torquecars.com/tools/uk-mpg-calculator.php

I'm getting an extra 10% on top of that, not bad :-)

There is no such thing as 'stated' MPG. The figures you read in the brochure are NOT real world driving numbers but rather a test done in lab conditions in order to allow you to compare different models and engines. It a very common misconception.

Finally got around to calling the dealer today as I've been closely monitoring the MPG and keeping a log. It's dropping badly now and it's looking like I might not even manage to get 320 miles on this tank full which will work out to an appalling 34 MPG. He agreed that the figures are well below what I should expect and thinks that the pinking noise and lack of power off boost is related. They're having it for a day on June 6th to see what they can find out. Fingers crossed.

I have owned my 90 hid for 6 days now and quite pleased with the mpg.
On day of purchase, I brimmed it £60, I've done 240 miles and still got just over half a tank so I'm hoping to get just under 500 miles to full tank.
Due to my tightness, I do have a very light right foot. Lol
My only concern with my car is (now how can I explain this).......if for example, if I changed gear when the gear indicator instructed, the car judders as if I'm in the wrong gear, if doing a slow right turn for example, which in most cars third gear would be the correct gear, I have to drop it into second otherwise the car would judder. Or if Im looking for a space at asda car park and in second gear, it's almost as if I'm going too slow and have to drop it into first.
Anyone else have this problem or is it a case of having to get used to the car?
