  • Delivery Date from dealer !!!

Ive just got off the phone from the dealership where i ordered my car in June 26th to be told that the factory isnt building my car till september but hasnt given an exact date!!!!!:mad::mad:

ive just rang citroen uk and told them that this is ridiculous and they need to sort it.

especially that the dealer told me it would be built in July!!!

to say im mad is an understatement!!!!

I thought they would have told you/known that:

The Production Factories closed during the month of August and all construction of vehicles stops during this time, production then resumes in September. This means that if you make an order in July that is a factory build it won't been scheduled until September for construction.

I doubt there is anything CUK will be able to do, seems lack of knowledge along the line. I know you ordered in June, but 4 odd days short of the end of the month might have included it in the July build and would be in the September build dates.

As WTF says, your dealer probably put it on their first order for july and as basically the whole of France goes on holiday in August then the later build would be correct. There will be nothing that CUK can do about it. Your dealer should know this as it's happened since the French Revolution (long time anyway). Unless its a specific build you could ask your dealer to see if they can find one in the UK stocks.

Apparently they have looked in the uk stocks and there isn't any.
I think it's ridiculous that I'm now having to wait 12 weeks plus for a new car!!!

To be fair this isn't uncommon with fully customisable and desirable cars like this in my experience - my last car was a fiat 500 and the lead times on those for a factory order could be 3months easily.

Luckily I fell in love with the exact one sat in my local show room - couldn't afford a DS3 then so I had it in a week!

Just remember - good things come to those who wait! : )

What's bizarre about this is that in mass production factories such as Citroen it only takes less than a day to produce a bespoke car and churn them off the End of the line in their hundreds each day so I agree that having to wait 12 weeks for a car is a bit odd. You should have ordered a Lamborghini lp640 instead. Lead time on this bespoke car is only around 8 weeks.

                12 weeks isn't that odd when the factory is closed for at least 4 . . . . .
Plus added to the wait is the delivery from France to the dealer.

The order for your bespoke car isn't printed out the same day at the PSA factory as if you have ordered a warm Sunday roast at the local Wetherspoons. I'm no expert but having been to the factory in Poissy they definitely don't churn them out.

I think the average wait is 8 weeks petrol and 12 for diesel for a factory order. Give or take.

I have to say it is reassuring that they don't churn them out! I think the build quality of the car is testament to this. I had previously to this a laguna initiale dci on a 54 plate and build and material quality is way behind my little ds3.
I get the same mpg return from my ds3 as well so considering the fuel price differential between diesel and petrol now I am better off .
Just steel yourself for the wait my pal and before u know it the day will come when u pick up your baby!
                  Thanks WTF for the info.

If you ordered your car on the 26th of June then there would have be a slim chance of it making into the July production board, in that position I would have advised September Build with maybe a late September delivery but more likely October.

Is there no chance of swapping the colour for a physical order?

In response to Mrnurse's question you need to have a little more understanding of how the factory works, you need to bear in mind that Poissy build DS3 for ALL sold countries. Think of it like a large calender and the factory allocates certain countries certain weeks, and then in that week only so many orders can be placed, anything that misses goes onto the next schedule date. Now when you think of all the orders that pour in you tend to find that the factory operates at least one to two months behind.

                    I hope that makes sense!!

Thanks for that insight bigfeet. Didn't realise they allocated certain weeks etc but it's interesting to know. I was lucky with my ds3 cos I picked one already in dealer stock so only had to wait 3 days whilst registration, tax and finance got sorted out. I personally would hate to wait more than a week for a car. It's like getting a date with Jennifer Lopez but being told she can't see u for 6 weeks!

You're lucky you didn't order a Racing when they were first put on sale, took over 7 months from date of order until mine was delivered. As B19PPh said good things come to those who wait

my seat ibiza took 6 months factory order in 09, as it was waiting the then new 1.6 tdi engine to be produced, plus the lazy spanish also down tools for a month so it took ages. Then it had the crappy DPF light coming on all the time lol. So think youself lucky on 3 months

P.S All these bloody european countries that down tools/ have siestas/ work half days etc etc, no wonder their countries are in the shit and need bailing out - Lazy b*astards!
