I just moved from Nottingham City out to the suburbs and my got £70 back from Admiral, which was nice

Last year I had both my parents and my better half as named drivers. When I was doing quotes it seemed to go down more and more for each person I added (all have no previous claims). This year however, it worked out cheaper to remove my parents from the policy (not they used the car anyway)!

Just make sure you use MSE's job picker as it could save a few quid: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/ins...ce-job-picker/

I saved £100 by moving from Admiral to Esure this time, the Admiral renewal quote was reasonable so was going to just renew with them until I read through the new policy & found they had added a £25 excess for windscreen chip repairs.

I also got a cute cuddly meerkat with my new policy (although he seems to have got lost on his way from Meerkovo).

I was quoted over a grand by Tesco for my renewal. Couple of comparison sites later and I've gone with Octagon for less than £600 with 3 years license, 5 years NCD (2 years taken from my bike insurance) at the ripe old age of 27.

That's about the same as my C1 cost me last year!

                Insurance for modifications

So how you go bout ammending insurance re mods?
                IE- New exhaust?
Always seems to be some service advisor who hasnt a clue bout cars
So explain a performance exhaust and what they say- have a manual to look at do they?
And what if youve mapped- tell them what the torque and BHP is?
                That the idea?

Bloody hell! The DS4 in particular is amazing for a 200 hp car!

Is she the principal driver on both policies? Are they both with the same insurance co?

No, we traded the DS3 in for the DS4 and it just happened that the insurance was due a few days later,so they charged us about a tenner to change the policy over and sent
us a renewal quote for the DS4.I was expecting a big hike in the premium but was very suprised by the price.

I've just done some quotes for a 1.6 ehdi (90) dstyle plus. Im 20, had my license 3 years, 0 ncb as I've always been on my mum policy with 3 points for speeding and had quotes ranging from £2,100 with admiral on multi car to £8,500 with tesco. I live in a pretty well off area about 10/15 minutes from blackpool. Its a joke and they wonder why young drivers front or risk it with no insurance.

You're 20, have no NCB and have been caught speeding. What did you expect?

                            Harsh I know. :/

I know, but 2 years insurance with tesco is more than what I paid for the car new. I was just saying its no wonder new/young drivers don't declare points, lie about jobs and being the main driver if premiums are so high. I think I'll be a 'named driver' for a bit longer

Haha, good plan! It's must be my area but I'm paying £950 with 1 years NCB and I'm 18...
