  • Soon to be a DS3 owner - Some questions

    Hi all,

I am getting a DS3 through a work salary sacrifice scheme and I am really excited. It's a 1.6e-HDi AirDream 115 DSport Plus in sport yellow. I kept adding to the build options on the cars available and the DSport Plus seemed to be the most balance between options and price. I keep seeing them now as they drive past and I am sure they are mocking me because mine hasn't arrived yet but yellow is the one colour I see the least and to be honest I kind of found it to look the nicest out of the available options. I am pretty sure I am not going to be disappointed.

I have to admit I am slightly concerned about the scare stories about DPF but in order to get the car of this spec on a salary scheme it needed to be low emissions and I don't do only city miles so it should be fine

I can see the DS3 has a lot of fans just from browsing the forums here. I ordered it back in February and the lease company keep changing the delivery, originally estimated early April, then it seems to keep slipping :-( It is now apparently in build and was estimated 15th but now once again slipped until estimated 30th. Sigh... My last car was a Freelander 1.8 so this should be rather a difference!

But anyway, the DSport seems to come fitted with pretty much all the options, maybe a stupid question but does it come with car mats and do all the new models now come fitted with the 3D rear lights?

The other thing I wasn't sure about is how automatic headlights work. Is it only side lights or is it much more automatic than that?

I also have what may be a stupid question, but I was wondering where reverse gear is? When the car is delivered I don't want to look like a total idiot when i can't work out the gears

The other thing was regarding dogs in the car. Are there recommended bot liners/dog guards out there? I wnt to keep them in the boot area to minimise any cleaning issues that may arise from dog hairs and the like

Looking forward to becoming a proper DS3 person in the coming weeks!

Yes, all new builds come with 3D rear lights. I got car mats with mine but not sure if that's standard or a dealer specific thing.

Basically with auto lights on: DRLs are on until it gets dark, then it turns on dipped beam until it thinks it's light enough again. If you want full beam, turn on as normal. Dead easy to use and I have mine on auto 99% of the time.

Not sure on this one, there are other members with dogs though so I'm sure someone will know.

        Welcome!
Its a 115 so a 6 speed, have to pull up the black ring right under the knob then left and up. The shift pattern is on the shift knob don't worry! Just enjoy

Thanks cyclone. I have a StopGap car from the lease company and it's a Seat Ibiza. The reverse is from pressing down and going up to first and I think i am a bit too heavy-handed on the gar which causes some fun times. :-)

Been waiting for this car for months now so getting very excited. generally i am a bit impulsive but I knew there might be a long waiting time so this time I stuck to my guns and went for the car I wanted. In some ways it was easier via a work scheme as no one tried t persuade me to go for a different colour or such because they have them in stock

According to the literature you get car mats in the dsport+. Ours is dsport+ and it came fitted with the mats.

Hi and Welcome! Enjoy your DS3!

As per Beefmasta's reply - except this one - dogs are not allowed in my DS3 - I've got a second less worthy car (a 4x4) for them!

I am an OCD detailer though and doggies are simply not allowed!

                Regards,
                Clive.

I hope it's not delayed more either. I bought the DS3 key ring as seen in other threads here and it's just sat unused... The dog thing is something I'd rather not do to the car but in case I have to I have to be prepared as usually they will be in our other car

Reading on here makes me want it all the more. Not very patient usually

I did see some boot liners on eBay. Not sure they will cover the boot enough.
Also seeing information about an eTouch button and emergency assist built into the dsport? I get breakdown cover as part of the car scheme I'm in so don't think I'll need to use that but don't know how much citreon stuff I can use as technically I won't own the car.

I saw there might be iPhone apps and things in the future, but guess I will find out when it finally arrives

I struggled to find any boot liners or dog guards suitable and at a reasonable price.

I got some faux leather and self adhesive Velcro and made a liner myself. First covered the boot floor with vinyl then covered all surfaces with the fabric. It's all wipe down and easily removed and replaced if and when required due to the Velcro.

For the guard, I bought a normal brush with an aluminium pole for about £2. Removed the brush head and cut the pole to size. Drilled 6 holes in the pole to slot the rear headrests in. Simple, bargain, effective solution.

Hi icewolf - and welcome to the club.

That's a great colour you've chosen - sport yellow - the same as me. You will love the car. Guaranteed.

I have seen one in yellow and it does look great. It was the only colour of the choices that really stood out to me although I considered the pearlescent black but I think the black roof and the yellow body really stand out. BIK tax is slightly higher but I think it'll be worth it.

Haven't driven a diesel since I had a 1.4 Peugeot 106 on a 51 plate so assume it might be a bit different but definitely getting more impatient now you folks are saying how good the car is

Thanks to the poster about the dog info too. Will look into that. Maybe I am getting a bit too paranoid keeping it clean. Even though it is leased they can't expect it to be pristine but having not had a brand spanking new car in over 10 years it may be hard not to want to keep it factory condition!

eTouch's SOS doesn't cost you as the driver anything to use but it is designed for emergency use only. The Citroen Assist button puts you through to Citroen Assistance Breakdown but you will need to have cover with them in order to take advantage.
