First milestone of the DS line, the DS3 is a successful challenge for Citroën. Since its launch in March 2010, 271,000 units were produced, of which 108 000 sold in France.
The "Mini French" as it is sometimes called is actually a good place among the urban chic. The DS3 also generates more than half of the sales of the DS line. Building on the achievements of the current model (style original that does not lapse into neo-retro, extensive customization, sharpened chassis and engine wide range), its successor will have to take the course.
Expected for 2016, it can no longer count on the surprise and offer new features.
A new grille
The DS3 "II" will focus on the new identity DS étrennée the DS5 LS . Called "DS Wings", the wide chrome bar grille fits in the headlights shaped brackets.
This strong, distinguished theme will be extended to all models as did Audi grille with "Single Frame" throughout its range. Projectors adopt LED light signature and include daytime running lights.
Therefore, this function leaves the oblique positioning shield for a clearer layout.
Different from the C3
This particular muzzle definitely distinguish the new DS3 C3 his cousin. Instead of the current two models that share headlights, fenders, hood and dashboard.
Venturing at the time on an unknown land, Citroën has limited investment and focused on the similarity between C3 and DS3 in case the customer would not have embraced the concept "DS".
The problem is different with their successors: the DS3 II will strengthen its semi premium image, while the C3 III embody the new philosophy "essential" to "C" line .
These are two diametrically opposed ways that will enable both models to be complementary.
This will result aboard the DS3 by a specific furniture that will benefit from the DS touch Connect interface. The technical community between future DS3 and C3 will continue of course, but this will be more.
Conqueror stay
With the DS range, Citroën has achieved many conquest, the manufacturer indicates that two out of three customers come from another brand. In order not to lose the benefit, the generation change should be visible enough to enjoy the novelty effect - DS Wings grille plays this role - while operating in continuity so as not to rush these "new" regulars .
The balance is subtle. This is why the new DS3 retain the aesthetic gimmicks of its predecessor. Profile, shark fin continues but by adopting new proportions. The floating pavilion also remains in the game with obviously a severable hue to that of the body.
To gain in quality, the sides are adorned with ribs very worked and chrome accents support this premium image. The renewal of the DS3 is comparable to that of the Mini.
An original and two diesel hybrid
Produced in the factory at Poissy (78), the DS3 will build on the three-cylinder gasoline engine 1.2 (82 hp air, 110 and 130 hp with turbo) and the four-cylinder 1.6 THP (155 and 202 hp).
Diesel block 1.4 HDi and 1.6 HDi will be replaced with a brand new 1.5 HDi with 75 to 115 hp.
And two types of hybridization could be the program: Eco hybrid (diesel) with starter-alternator and air hybrid (petrol) a compressed air tank
A five-door DS3!
A coupe and discoverable derived Cabrio will still relevant. The novelty will come from a 5-door variant. The DS3 will replicate to the Audi A1 Sportback and especially the new Mini which will offer for the first time this type of bodywork.
The accessibility to the rear seats will win what style will lose. Because the DS3 5 opening will be distinguished by specific flanks. Shark fin so seductive on the three-door, is hardly compatible with a back door and even less with a falling glass.
Citroën again unless we suddenly fixed windows of the DS4 or chooses a compass opening as the future C4 Cactus .
Anyway, the DS3 will also become the choice of young families who previously had to fall back on the C3 or C3 Picasso , offering less standard.
If those are the plans for the future DS3's, I certainly won't be getting a new one when mine is put to rest eventually..
I hope I'll be able to buy more horsepower anyway, after this one
I wonder how close the next DS3 will be to those pictures; I'd venture to suggest not very!
It's reasonable to assume, given Citroen's normal model cycles, that the 2016 DS3 will be a completely new car. The Argus "scoop" pictures show a car which is just a facelift of the existing model.
That "latest" picture must be pretty old as it has Citroen on the back & chevrons on the grille, but the general design of the grille is what is appearing on all the Chinese DS's so very likely it will be on the new DS3.

Any more news on where I can buy a set of the new xenon led headlights?
Yes mate main dealers that's where I got mine from look on the discounts section you can get 10% discount through arbury citroen Nuneaton but they still going to be over £2000 !!
The only thing I like about this render is the rear with the exhausts integrated into the bumper, but this will no doubt be let down by there being visible circular exhaust pipes inside the holes, and on some of the smaller engined models there only being an active exhaust on one side. Imagine sitting behind a DS3 on a cold day with the dual exhaust bumper and only seeing vapour rising from one side!
I'm keen to see what they do end up doing with the DS3 though. My contact is up in July 2016 and at the moment I'd like to get another one. In theory I'll be one of the first in line for the new model but I won't be getting it if it looks like this.
As Soran pointed out though it still has the Citroen branding on it. The next DS3 is more likely than not to only have DS branding on it so I can't see this being real or final.
