  • Brake and Heating Problems

Just wondering if anyone else has heard of the same problems as I'm having. I've been to my local Citroen garage they can seem to detect the problem. I purchased the car in November and it'll be a year old in 3 days time. Basically, it seems like the breaks seize up after the car isn't used for maybe 2 days or more. As you start to pull away it almost feels like the handbrake is still on but I can assure you its not. My other problem is that my engine doesn't seem to heat up quick enough. I could be running the car for about 8 minutes and its still blowing cold air. Anyone got any ideas? It had a service in December 2013.

The brakes issue is normal, happens on mine and has been mentioned before by other members. Not sure about the heating issue but I'm sure someone will know.

I have the D Style + 1.6 petrol. its terrible on winter mornings. I have to turn on my car 15 mins before work to enable me to see out the windscreen clearly.

As mentioned before you get a little bit of rust on the brakes which cause them to stick after a couple of days, nothing to worry about as it's quite normal.

In regards to the heater I take it you are using the AC when attempting to heat the car?

My diesel pushes hot air out via the a/c within a couple of minutes, before I leave the village it's too hot and I'm turning it down

Don't know Chris, to be honest it's not much of anything now, well unless you like a high street of phone and coffee shops. Glad we're moving later this year....

I find the heating to be a bit dodgy in the DS3. As noted, it takes a while to heat up, but even more annoyingly, if you've got the digital climate control, you can only heat the windscreen on FULL POWER. This was especially irritating on a recent long motorway journey with four friends in the car + luggage; due to so many people, we had to have the heater on full power on the windscreen for most of the journey due to poor weather conditions and lots of body heat! Overall, I don't think the heating system is as good as my previous car, which was a teeny tiny Toyota Aygo.

Try pressing the left-hand button on the right-hand heating dial - you can select several different combinations. I find that if it's left in "auto" with the fan running fairly fast the windscreen normally stays clear - if not, 30 seconds or so with the automatic demist function clears it.

                    It's all explained in the Owner's Handbook . . .

With Dave on that you only needed to adjust the manual side of the climate control rather then use the demist program.

People seem to enjoy being quite patronising on here... I think most of us with a brain do look in the Owners Manual :star:. Using the standard climate control proved quite ineffective in that poor weather, even with the airflow directed to the windscreen, meaning the de-mister was called into action, which only works on full power. It's fine when there's just me in the car and weather isn't too bad, but the system needs to work a lot harder when the car is at full occupancy and dealing with wet weather, and overall, my point was, that it doesn't work quite as well as simpler systems.

Quick question. Are you running the air circulator at the same time, that would help to explain the poor clearing. Otherwise it might be worth having the cabin filter checked, if its done that too will cause a build up.

I dont think the design of the system is at fault as other DS3 I've used clear and function fine so my guess there is something else going on.

This. I use mine on auto all the time and have no issues with steaming up.
