I have this problem too, but I also seem to have it with reverse on occasion. I've only had my car 8 weeks and its been back to the dealers twice so I don't want to go back again, is it worth mentioning?

I seem to have a problem with my 1st gear as well it seems like it sticks 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th are perfect but everytime you go in to 1st it sticks and you have to really force it in clutch fully engaged. I have 12 months warranty on mine tempted
to take it back to the garage! I learnt how to drive in a DS3 exact same model as mine and it did not stick in 1st like mine does

Mine does this aswell... 1st gear when cold and sometimes when its warmed up, also sometimes when going into reverse, would it be covered by warranty as the garage I bought it off gave 3 months warranty?

I guess a warranty is a warranty in the terms of mine it said the only things it doesn't cover is things that wear and tear like glass, bulbs, disc brakes, tyres e.c.t it does also say clutch and bearings but if this problem is a clutch issue i would have to argue that 2 months of having the car in its 12 month warranty is not wear and tear from me and i would fight that. Someone said to me they think its the synchromesh but i wouldn't know i have no idea.

                Bringing this back up again.

The dodgy gear selection has been getting worse on 1st and especially reverse. Sent an email to the dealership I bought it off and they've suggested bringing it on so that they can have a look at it.

It's booked in for monday morning and they're gonna check and test it when I'm there, then if anything needs doing I will get a courtesy car while they fix it.

Will report back next week as to what happens...

So went to the garage today to get the gearbox looked at... basically it's just me being paranoid haha. First time having a diesel and a 6 speed Gbox obviously just picked up on things that were different to my old car and thought something was wrong. The garage done a extensive gearbox check and found nothing and that its fine, feels the same as they compared it to other dsport diesels that they had and they were all the same. I even got to test drive another one to see what it was like. and yeah it was the same haha. they are notchy gearboxes to start off with apparently and if anything was wrong with them then you would be able to tell straight away. im pleased anyway as its atleast put my mind to rest

If it won't go into reverse, put it back into first keeping clutch down, and then into reverse. Seems to work for me.

Not sure I agree there, Farage had mine for the days with head mechanic commuting in it to try and identify the fault. Found nothing gave it back and I still experience the issue. Good back in September and can prove I tried to remedy it so just living with it.

The grunchy DS3 gearbox was referred to on Top Gear when they reviewed the DS3 in 2010 I believe
Mine needs a shove now and again- not heard of many giving up
