I still cant believe that Citroen (or any manufacturer) think a 2 year service interval is acceptable..... Mine is going in every 6 months, maybe annually if it does <10k km for the year, even if just for oil and filter and a quick check. Interesting to see that Citroen have changed their service interval back to 1 year though.

Im still not sure whether to try and tackle this with them or just leave it? Im giving the car back next year. Im no mechanic but a new car going through all of yr2 and yr3 with no servicing seems wrong!! Plus....I have the service and assistance package which it states costs roughly £884 over 3yrs. This means ive paid that for 1 service and get no more during the 3yrs of owning the car ..... like I said if I was considering keeping it I would push this with them ..but no way am I keeping this car.

Are you paying for this or are you getting it through a service plan??

Paying, servicing through an independent French car specialist, not a dealer. Out of warranty now so would prefer to over service a bit and keep it really up to date, also I'm pretty sure Australia qualifies under Citroen's "harsh conditions" with a shorter service interval.

Agree that 2 years is a long interval. Mine is a 1 year interval (Or20k) but will be changing oil and filter myself in the interim 6 months, just before winter (Or flood season) sets in
Car seems to like new oil and filter

In response to the OP you are quite right, the normal interval for your car is 2 years or 20,000 miles. Regardless of the annual inspection you already have had the car is due.

If this dealer is messing you about so much I would suggest traveling to another one.

So do you think I am best to do my own service ? Just seems criminal paying for a service when I have a service agreement ??? I was really looking forward to this service being done as the car does seem a bit rough in the mornings when cold ....and by rough I mean "Tractor sounding with white smoke" ...thought a good service would do it the world of good :-(

I am still not 100% clear on what they have said ......why would they do the 20K / 2yr service after only 10K / 1yr ....? They have sent me the invoice for the service they did last year which is fine......but now no service for a 2 yr period? Surely the filters they changed last year would have been still pretty new?

I got it booked in next Friday for a check up on the rough engine - white smoke - miss-firing ....... although after reading ARN63's story I am a little nervous about how long they could end up keeping it for!! Free check up on warranty so may as well ay :-)

The service manager has said that because of the "service" carried out last year the service timer would have been reset on the car ....meaning they cannot service it again. He said he rang CUK to see whether they will cover the cost of the service and apparently they said no as it is not due???

I think it is a poor show for Citroen to tell customers they are saving £xxxx's by getting a service plan, and then telling them that they only need 1 service. So instead of saving all that money you are actually paying over the odds for the service plan.
Regardless of whether you buy the service plan,or get it as part of the deal(the cost of it is probably added to the price of
the car) it is wrong for Citroen to then only do 1 service. My car is due a service at the beginning of May and I will be
curious to see what the dealer says, bearing in mind my car has covered less than 4000mls.

                    Regards Tbart.

My car was new in May 2013. I did have one issue with a frayed drive belt that made the car sound like a bag of spanners.
this issue was dealt with very quickly and efficiently by my local dealer ( not where I purchased it ). Have had no issues
                        since.

You are on the Service plan yes? Then you are entitled to an annual service as well as the scheduled service!

This is from Citroen's own information.

I have just rang CUK and explained my situation ....he has for the time being agreed with my statement and is now calling Evan Halshaw Kettering to look into it further. Going to call me back in 20mins or so :-)

Hopefully this will get things sorted ....and if so I will take great pleasure in calling the service manager at the garage to book MY SCHEDULED SERVICE ......WHICH I AM DUE haha

Will update you guys when I have the answer.

Thank you for the information above ....it has helped me understand this better and take this action !!!

                                Update:

Mac from CUK (Very helpful guy) just called me back and has spoken to his colleague who have both confirmed and agreed that I am very clearly ...100% ....DUE A SCHEDULED SERVICE!!

                                Next step:

He is trying to get through to the service team at the garage to understand why they have declined my service and I am sure will state that they have to do one. I on the other hand may just give them a quick call after this is sorted and inform them that they have lost a customer and that I am going to my other local Citroen in Northampton for all future work/service :-)

Quick question ...... what do I get from the first scheduled service? do they change the plugs?
