  • Tyre problems

When i boughht my ds3 it came with pirellis 205 45 r17. In all honesty i hate them, when you turn a corner it feels like the tyre is coming away from the wheel, and just sliding as if there is no grip. There is loads of tread. i have the correct tyre pressure and i have had the beads checked to make sure the tyres are sat correctly. Does any one else have this issue or is it just me? And are the tyres the correct size.

    All comments welcome,

    Kieran

I don't have my DS3 at work today but from memory I'm sure they're the correct size tyres. I have the Michelin Pilot Exalto's on mine (from new) and they are excellent and not subject to the issue you've noted on the Pirelli's

Definitely the right tyre size for the Bellones. Pretty sure mine are Bridgestone Potenza RE050A. Not had the issues you've mentioned in normal driving, the only time I've had a bit of understeer is going a bit quick onto a roundabout in the damp/wet.

I would suggest taking your car back to the dealer to check the tyres over and while they're doing that, take out another DS3 on a test drive to see if you get the same issues.

King the money out to change them. I put 34psi for my tyre pressure.

34PSI is what mine are set at as well. I've not tried Pirelli but must be serious if you're thinking of changing them.

From what I've read on other forums Pirellis seem to be generally regarded as pretty poor tyres.

sounds like a serious case of understeer

Well- they look nice. Never rated them, came with my Ford Focus 10 year ago (Not Neros)

I used to have pirellis and switched to budgets when i needed new and i prefer the budget tyre believe it or not lol. Tyres that i hear get alot of praise are the Toyo tr1's (think thats correct)
